Only do this if you feel competent in doing so.

Pulling apart laptops is not for the faint of heart.

If you really must do it there are some
good guides here
.

An alternative is to get a can of compressed air used to clean computers. Put the nozzle on and spray it in every hole you can see without putting the nozzle itself inside the laptop.

Do this outside with glasses on.

Thats because there are hidden screws.
You also have to remove the hard drive and ROM drive.

Take a
peek here for more ideas of what is involved.

There are a few are tips for various things in there.

DON'T touch the CPU cooler unless you know what you are doing and have some thermal grease for CPUs to hand

This could be one of two things. Either your fan is dead or it is not connected properly. If you can open up the laptop and check your wires. Something could be loose. Otherwise you'll have to purchase a new fan and install it. The computer won't turn on without proper cooling for the processor.

Your CPU is overheating. When this happens the safety mechanism causes your computer to shutdown to prevent further problems. The CPU fan will need to be replaced.

Fan on Dell M5030 Starts on startup and then shuts down but computer continues to boot

Lots of fans are variable speed. Meaning they spin faster when the computer is hot and slow down when not. It's most likely spinning down. If the fan was bad the computer will either shutdown or generate an error during BIOS and halt the boot process.

Due to c00002la fatal system error problem I am unable to shut down.

Hi,

Shut down your PC by pressing restart button then immediately shutdown button, Next time when you start your PC, press F8 during startup before the window logo comes up, and choose "last configuration that worked". If the last known good configuration does not work you may have to reinstall the operating system. Visit this link to resolve this error.

Thanks..!!

Computer STartup Problem

That is an impressive wait. You must be an OR LP to have tolerated that battery manipulation; hopefully the surgeons aren't up nights over the 3 lost insulated forceps.... It sounds as though the system is dissatisfied with the CPU fan speed or another power/cooling interface component (CPU over 90 centigrade, chipset over 95 centigrade, the power supply fan running, etc.) and thus shutting down immediately to protect itself. Do all those things check out, particularly in the BIOS power/cooling section? How about fan and power connections on your videocard being right and jumpered accommodatingly?

That is, you could connect tach fans on any spare 3-4 pin headers and see if favor comes your way. The system will spin them slowly once it boots and you enable automatic CPU/fan control (and power savings) settings.
