Turn off the printer.

unplug the printer.

wait a minute or so.

plug back in.

turn back on.

Usually if its a dual cartridge printer (black and colour) u can't put the wrong cartridge in the wrong spot, but check, maybe you have them reversed?

Most printers have built in maintenance and trobleshooting programs..run them both.

Consult your manual or the website if necessary.

Good luck.

Not printing correctly. Says to align cartriges. After aligning cartriges, it stills prints incorrectly no mater how many times I align cartriges.

Clean the ink cartrige and the cartrige carrier with lukewarm water or alcohol on a cotton cloth and then install the cartridge. Even if that does not work then you will have to reset the printer for which turn off the printer and then press and hold power and start buttons for 10-15sec and then release.. Then try it again.

Printer was off for a week and when turned on indicates "incorrect black cartrige installed"

Use lint free cloth and clean the contacts on cartrige and contacts on printer were the cartrige gos in. Be very gentle and very careful do not damage the contacts. Reinstall the cartrige an try again to get it to print. Do not touch the inkjet on the bottom of the ink cartrige it may distroy the print head chip on the ink cartrige and make it useless.

Receiving the message "Ink Catridge problem: ink cartridge appears to be missing or damaged". I've tried everything from cleaning cartridge holders to replacin cartridges. Nothing works and the printer...

The message you are getting may be due to the following reasons :

1) Cause : One or more ink cartridges missing.
Solution : Remove and reinsert the ink cartriges and verify that they are fully inserted and locked in place.

2) Cause : One or more of the ink cartriges are not installed or are installed incorrectly.
Solution : Remove and reinsert the ink cartriges and verify that they are fully inserted and locked in place. If the problem persists, clean the copper-colored contacts of the ink cartriges.

I get the message that printhead is missing, loose, or installed incorrectly. I re-installed both of them and clicked them like instructed and I still get the same message, even when I unplug it and plug...

The cartriges are not the printhead. Take them out, push the button on the top left and reinstall, pushing on the thumb picture. then install cartriges. if this doesnt work call 1.800.421.6699.

What does the cartrige icon stand for in the hp deskjet 840c?

If the cartridge icon is being displayed and the printer wont print it means either the cartridge is installed incorrectly or you are out of ink.

Printer says right cartrige is incorrect

remove the cartridges and reinstall them back, turn the printer off , if that does not work, did you use a new original cartridge or a recycled cartridge ?, either way will trick the printer into the new cartridges, i, hope this solves the problem good luck.

Right cartrige incorrect

Hi,

This error means that the printer is unable to read or load the cartridge.

Try to rub the golden parts on the cartridge with a smooth damp cloth.

And in the contacts where the cartridge has to be placed also clean it.

Now install the cartridge & check.

Are you using the compatible cartridge with the printer, this message will came if the installed cartridge is not compatible with the printer.

Check with the known good that is the cartridges which you know that worked with the printer to make sure that there is nothing wrong with the printer.

If the error message comes call the manufacturer to checkand replace the cartridge.

Good Luck.
