this same thing happened to me. insert a game and see if it will show th eloading icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen if it dose then your umd drive is messed up. if you insert a game and nothing happenes then your motherboard is messed up. which ever one is mesed up it still invloves taking it apart its jsut a matter of what. find a video on youtube that teaches youhow to take apart your perticulart model of psp. and its pretty mucgh self explanitory from there take it apart and switch out the messed up hardware. remember im not responsible for anything that mite happen to you or the psp
when i noticed you typed laser clicking, i knew exactly what happened.. it was dropped.. you answered your own question. Same thing happened to me, had to get a new one.. or you can get a cheap one used at gamestop, or ebay.com or amazon.com. You can, worked for me sometimes, but when the game starts to load, and you hear the laser clicking, just tap the back of the psp until the game starts.. may or may not work, depending how hard you dropped it.
What happened before this? Did you drop your PSP or something? Or were you installing something like a newer firmware then you suddenly decided not to and then turned it off without waiting for the installation to finish? If what happened is the latter one, then prolly your PSP got bricked and the only solution to that is a Pandora Kit...
this happened to me and i think it happens when you play your psp while its charging too much, i got littlebigplanet and i love the game too much. ive been playing it 24/7 (not really) but ever since i started playing it while it was charging, it would do this.
Open the battery compartment, and remove the battery. Look at the bottom inside corner for a little square sticker with has marks on it. is it dark or light, If it is dark, your PSP has come in contact with moisture. I suspect that your PSP has gotten wet or damp. If the sticker is dark, you need to keep your battery out for about 2 days, and keep the UMD door open and the whole PSP kept in a dry environment. Try it after 2 days of drying to see if it is recovered. Good luck Gohan....
