Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Server``s temperature is outside of the normal operating range.

I am always getting this alert from one of my servers HP ProLiant DL380 G6
yet there is no indication when at the machine that this is happening at all - I have been trying to find a way to correct this or adjust HP Sims to have a higher thermal threshold as I am getting these msg's every few minutes all day every day

Event description: The temperature status has been set to degraded in the specified chassis and location. The server``s temperature is outside of the normal operating range. The server will be shutdown if the cpqHeThermalDegradedAction variable is set to shutdown(3).

Chassis Number: continue
Bay Number: 0
Detailed Status: system

If anyone knows of a patch or firmware issue that would resolve this it would be much appreciated

It's overheating
first prove it's not .
if not, then fix the sensor.
its there for a very important reason, do not hack it.

or ask for help at
click support.
is this hard, to do that?

In HP prolliant server sets, setup also logs system events. This error is due to that log. Enter setup, trace log and clear all events.

SOURCE: how do i boot a compaq proliant dl380 with a usb

Make sure you have turned on the USB Boot in the BIOS of the os. Once this is done, select the order you would like for the server to locate boot files. (Hard Drive, USB, CD/DVD, etc.) Once complete, insert the USB and reboot the server.

Good Luck

Check the back for a bad power supply. You should be using dual power with dual supply. It should have indicator light on somewhere. Connect to another source if no LED is on.

Proliant DL380 G4 server occasionally rebootes.

Try to update the firmwares. Maybe the threeshould of the fans are incorrect. A new firmware can correct this problem.
