Question about AMD eMachines Desktop System w/ 17'' CRT Display, 2.0 GHz Athlon 64 3000+ (W3400)
I have an emachine W3400. When you turn the power on, it comes on, fans run, for about 3 seconds. Then it cuts off, but the blue E blinks. I have tried to make sure I'm running proper electrical unit, made sure everything was seated properly....any other suggestions before I scrap it? Also, I removed the hard drive and used a tether to try and remove my files. There were pictures on there that are not on there anymore....any suggestions on what might have happened to them?

Tips for a great answer:
Feb 18, 2014 | eMachines W3400 Motherboard Replacement...
Feb 29, 2012 | E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC
The full motherboard breakdown will be evident if the pc will not come out of the yellow standby light on the screen. The other symptoms here will be the pc may sound as though it is running. This is assuming the power supply has not partially blown. The CPU fan will be seen to be running, the hard drive and cd rom lights will be glowing, and the hard drive can be heard running. The obvious point will be that in these circumstances the pc will show no signs of a display on screen.
What will have happened here is that the motherboard processor socket will have become inoperable. This is a non repairable item, but means the motherboard must be replaced for an effective and full repair.
The cost of this may sound worse that it actually is. The High Street stores will quote you inflated repair figures, when in truth the repair can be carried out by you with my instructions in under and hour and with full effect.
