Question about RCA P61939 61" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Using RCA P61939 without Guide Plus

Have direct connection from cable (basic only) to TV. Autoprogram only finds 16 channels. Same set up with another TV in same jack finds 75 channels. This TV was purchased used and I do not have the G-Link wands for the Guide Plus system. Is this causing the problem and will the TV function without using the Guide-Plus system?

Guide plus still works even if you don't have the wand hooked up. In the setup section of the guide plus there are several questions that must be answered properly or it won't function as you would like. It maybe labeled as options as well. Thanks

How do you program channels on this tv with out the tv remote

press both channel buttons at same time or if you have a menu button. Then go to tuner options or channel options, look for the "autoprogram" option. Select it and it will scan all available channels.
If you have dish or cable, or direct tv, make sure your tv is set to CATV. if you have regular tv, set it to AIR

When you are using a FullHD upscaling model. I still have to a HD setbox

the set top box is required by your cable company.

if you plug cable directly into the TV and run an auto program from the TV menu it will find most channels. BUT it will not locate them correctly.

for instance I have comcast. Channel 58 is FX but WITHOUT a cable box it shows up as the following on my HDtv's

sharp 52" shows up as channel 83.10
RCA 27" shows up as 86.6
RCA 32" shows up as 89.3

its a pain in the ****. We rent 2hd boxes from comcast at 7.99 a month and I refuse to pay them any more per month.

Contrary to what most cable providers say you WILL pick up most channels and in fact you will pick up some HD channels without the box but you have to look for them and they won't be on the same channel on every TV.

Lastly cable companies also remodulaet their signals every once and a while so there will come a time when you will have to do the whole setup, autoprogram (ch scan) again and yes the channels will once again move to another channel.

cable sucks Comcast REALLY sucks

Make sure to check in the guide plus setup for the question "Do you have cable?" and answer it yes. Be sure that you answer the question "Do you have a cable box?" NO. It sounds like it is in antenna mode. Thanks

Doesn't get all cable channels

With the menu set to cable signals, the autoprogram should catch all of the cable channels. The Cable Channel option allows you to use either channel 3 or 4 as the "cable" channel. This is when you have an external box that you use to tune in cable rather than the TV directly. The easiest way here is to autoprogram the TV while playing a VCR tape. That will insure that channel 3 is included.

Does the autoprogram fail?

Jvc tv

go to menu and scroll down to autoprogram-with cable box turned on- and run autoprogram; it will pick up ch#3.
Another option is to use video inputs and take video and audio using RCA connectors.

Cant use all cable channels

Go to SET UP TV, press yes for the following question. SET UP GUIDE PLUS. This will take you to another GUIDE PLUS SET UP SCREEN. Answer the questions as they appear. The important question is going to be. DO YOU HAVE CABLE? Answer yes to this questions. Answer the rest of the questions as they appear. Then go back to MAIN MENU, select channel, then select auto channel search. This will find all channels that are offered by your cable package.

Lost channels 2 through 52

I think the low band (Channel 2-6)in your tuner is not working. This could be in the tuner itself or in the band switching circuits. Possibly she deleted the low channels or locked them out. Stargazer
