Looking directly at the display is very light and extremely hard to see. At an angle it is easier to read.

Brother fax 236s My fax machine display cannot be seen when i look it directly. Characters can be seen lower and high positions. How do i adjust display contrast?

That's quite unusual. It should really be in reverse and it should be dark when looking directly and feint when at angles. I suspect you have a light in the room that is bouncing off the display. Try it in another room and I bet it will be ok. By the way there is no adjustment as its a low end unit.

Microwave genius sensor 1300w

I don't believe it is possible to change the display angle/tilt on this microwave. The unit ships with a protective film over the display that should be removed to make the display easier to read. However, this model is known to be difficult to read unless looking at straight-on. That and needing a flashlight to look at your food with the door open since the internal light does not stay on when door is opened. Good luck!.

Black screen on pc

Look at the screen closely at an extreme angle while it's on. If you can see the normal display but it's just very dim then the screen inverter is shot; an easy DYI project for ~$40. If there's no display at all, can you test it by hooking it up to a monitor? If that works then the screen either went bad and needs replacing (under $200) or the power circuit to the screen (delicate wires near hinge) need replacing. If an external monitor doesn't work then it "might" be a graphics chip failure. Easier at that point to just replace than repair.

Proform 980 CS treadmill - display screen is very hard to see, it's too dark. It can be viewed clearly from an extreme angle... Can the consol angle be adjusted or is there a hardware problem that...

Run the software calibration, for easy diagnose
2) However you must adjust the REED swtich, clean it, and tight every plug or connector from the machine and try again.
3) If the problem persist, the problem can be the display board. see the block diagram.
God bless you

Lcd display is what seem to be to bright hard to read black info .or the black symbols are very light hard to read with bright orange lighted display thanks Mark

You don't say what device this is on, HOWEVER most thngs have a "contrast" control that will adjust the visibility.

Sometimes they call this a viewing angle control and sometimes it is a small shaft from the back of a unit, OTHER times it is a setting available through a menu... if you can read the display enough to find it...

As stated in your post "two year old may have dropped it"
If this is true than the backlight has probably been damaged. The small flourescent tubes that generate light through the LCD display.

Display lights

It sounds like either the inverter board or the cathode lights behind the screen. I would first suggest double checking the wires coming from the lcd screen connecting directly to the motherboard, follow those wires up and make sure they are properly connected on the other end, then at that point I would normally replace the inverter board, one because its a lot easier and two its usually the inverter board, very rare is it the cathode light that just blows out.

Digital clock display read out is EXTREMELY dim even after adjusting brightness and contrast controls

Hello Jinx55,
the problem is the display unit itself or the cable that goes from the display to the electronic (Most likely the dispaly itself).
The display will need to be replaced. You can contact Miele directly at
