The hinges can't be repaired, but can be replaced. It's feasible to do it yourself if you're tech savy. Just look online for guides that show you how to replace the hinge on any toshiba laptop and you should get an idea how to do the replacement step by step for this specific model. I work for Computer Repair NYC and i have to fix this problem a lot, you can get the hinge on ebay.

SOURCE: I need to remove the bios password for toshiba

A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

B. By Using Software:

I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

SOURCE: I would like to restore my Toshiba Satellite

It depends. Some laptop computers have a usually-hidden "recovery" partition on the disk-drive.

Reboot the computer, and look for a "start recovery" option as the first page of text on the computer-screen. Press the specified key to access that "recovery" partition.

Or, some Toshiba computers have a utility to *CREATE* a set of system-recovery CDs, by burning the necessary files onto CD/DVD-recordable disks. Run that utility.

Go to the Toshiba site and make sure you have downloaded and installed the right drivers. Sometimes there are multiple drivers listed for the same laptop. Try another and see if works. If not, try another.

How do I change a keyboard on a satellite A85-S107 laptop?

1. Take out the battery and AC adapter, unplugged from the wall, enusre the laptop is fully powered off.
2. Remove those screws with a T-8 or Phillips screwdriver.
3. Turn the laptop back over and open it up. Check and see if the Toshiba Satellite A85-S107 keyboard is tucked under any plastic pieces. If so, find them if those plastic pieces are screwed into anything, and unfasten them as well. If not, it probably uses clamps that can easily be removed.
4. Remove the plastic pieces carefully.
5. Unscrew any screws at the top (if necessary) and remove the keyboard itself from top to bottom. You'll notice that the keyboard is connected with a thin, but wide, data cable to the system board at the bottom.
6. Disconnect the data cable attachment of the keyboard which will sever all the remaining attachments of the laptop keyboard with the laptop computer motherboard. To remove this cable, you have to just carefully pull it out from the socket to which it is attached. Then you can lift out the entire keyboard out of the laptop.
7. Take the new Toshiba Satellite A85-S107 keyboard out of the plastic and place it inside with the right orientation, attach the data cable.
8. Refasten the keyboard in place at the top.
9. If you had to remove any plastic pieces, carefully snap them back in and replace any screws you had to remove.
10. Turn the laptop over and replace all of the keyboard screws.
11. Put the laptop battery back in place and switch it on to check Toshiba Satellite A85-S107 keyboard functionality. If everything has gone according to plan, you should be ready to type away!

The only way to deal with this is take laptop apart to access the motherboard and resolder the plug points to firm up the connection. There is no other way to address this.

Toshiba satellite a85-s107 laptop

If it makes a either a griding noise or sounds like it's going to take flight, you may need to have the fan replaced. Even after dust collects in the motherboard compartment, or somehwere by the fans, dirt and oils tend to get stuck in the fan and ruin it. Have the fan replaced before it creates more damage.
