Re: i think my video card wont dump its cache

Have you tried un-installing and re-installing the game? EA has posted instructions for doing so on their support website. I've pasted the website link and instructions for doing so below. I've had to un-install and re-install at least six times myself, and have seen exactly the error that you have described occur twice. I hate this game for the crashes that occur regularly. My system plays Crysis fine, with no crashes, but crashes regularly from 2142. I wish that for once and for all EA would fix this game. It is the best battle simulation in the world, IMHO.

Answer Use the supplied Uninstall shortcut from the Start menu that came with Battlefield 2142 or use the Add or Remove Programs to remove the software. If you encounter difficulty in removing the game, carefully do so manually as follows:
To delete the configuration files and local copy of your account:

  1. Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
  2. Select My Documents.
  3. Right-click the Battlefield 2142 folder and select Delete.
To delete the game files (in the default location):
  1. Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
  2. Select My Computer.
  3. Double-click the C:drive.
  4. Double-click the Program Files folder.
  5. Double-click the EA GAMES folder.
  6. Right-click the Battlefield 2142 folder and select Delete.
  7. Go to the following folder: C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (If you cannot find this folder you may have to go to Tools > Folder Settings and click the setting to SHOW hidden folders.)
  8. Right-click the folder named {ED50ECE9-EC54-4C05-B5ED-EE4741A9F2EC} and select Delete.
  9. Close all open windows.
  10. Right-click the Recycle Bin and select Empty Recycle Bin.
To edit the registry and remove Battlefield 2142:
  1. Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
  2. Select Run.
  3. Type regedit in the text field and click OK.
  4. Click File and select Export.
  5. Name the file Backup and make sure the Export Range is set to All.
  6. Click Save; you will now be returned to the Registry Editor window.
  7. Click the plus (+) sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
  8. Click the plus (+) sign next to Software.
  9. Click the plus (+) sign next to EA GAMES.
  10. Right-click the Battlefield 2142 folder and select Delete.
  11. Back under Software, click the plus (+) sign next to Electronic Arts.
  12. Click the plus (+) sign next to EA GAMES.
  13. Right-click the Battlefield 2142 folder and select Delete.
  14. Just above EA GAMES, you will see a folder named EA CORE. Click the plus (+) sign next to EA CORE.
  15. Click the plus (+) sign next to INSTALLED GAMES.
  16. Click the plus (+) sign next to EA GAMES.
  17. Right-click and select Delete on any Battlefield 2142 folders.
  18. Click the plus (+) sign next to Microsoft.
  19. Click the plus (+) sign next to Windows.
  20. Click the plus (+) sign next to CurrentVersion.
  21. Click the plus (+) sign next to Uninstall.
  22. Right-click the key named {ED50ECE9-EC54-4C05-B5ED-EE4741A9F2EC} and select Delete.
  23. A Confirm Key Delete window will appear, choose Yes.
  24. Close the WindowsRegistry Editor.
Battlefield 2142 should now be completely removed from your system.

Crashes after playing a game for about 10 minutes

Hi samohtpfeffe, i've been having the exact same problem. reason why your video card crashes because its over heating, fan not spinning ? Did you try to remove old video driver and install latest driver ?

What Game are you playing ,at the moment? Because this video card is about over 4 years old, really can't handle newest games properly.

Good Luck!

I think the problem it's graphic card

Check your antivirus software. This seems to be the problem of something running in the background when you are playing the game. If it would have been the Graphics card, the game would not have worked, or would have given errors.

Try to disable your antivirus or any other program that may be running in the background. Then check once again.

Ati2mtag causing crash - ATI vid card

This error normally occurs if the card becomes unstable due to overclocking, heat or is faulty. The fact that the more you play the more it crashes lends credence to this being an overheating issue with the gpu. The options to resolve this are to make sure the gpu fan is functioning probably on the graphics boards and replace if necessary. While doing that I would look at the cooling setup for the entire system to make sure their are adaquate front, rear and if possible side fans to circulate air properly. Obviously the more a gpu overheats the more it's life cycle is shortened. You may want to take the second option of replacing the card.

High Ping When playing Battlefield 2142 Online

There are a lot of factors that can affect ping rates. Server location, server load, local internet load, and your computer and network setup. The server you access for Battlefield may be too far from you. Try typing "ping", at the command prompt,(usually found in "All Programs/Accessories") also without the quotes. You should get numbers in the 40-60ms range. (thats by the way), then put in the IP number of the Battlefield server. Any returned numbers under 100ms are ok, if your getting higher numbers, check the Battlefield forums to see if there is a server closer to where your located. If your getting numbers over 250-300ms at both sites, then download Lavasofts Adaware SE which is free, and Spybot Search & Destroy, also free and run them both, (once a week after as well) they will remove spyware and adware from your computer. There is a possibility that spyware or adware is using network resources.

XFX Geforce 6200 256 DDR RAM

i have found that some boards don't like Nvidia graphics cards and play up when it comes to a particular graphical attempt. You can try the game and card on lower settings, but that defeats the purpose of the card, and make sure you have the latest directx (9C i think) installed You can try as i did some older graphic card drivers for your model as Nvidia now seem to make generic force drivers for all models. I had luck with different drivers for a while, but ended up buying an ATI graphics card and as of yet after a year had no graphic problems.
