I was getting an F4 code, so we replaced the oven sensor. The oven worked fine until yesterday and then we started getting the F4 code again? What would be causing this to happen again?

    Thanks

I had same problem, gave F4 code, I replaced sensor and worked for a while, then gave code above about 325F and easily if oven door closure was not done "gently". Sensor measured 1096 ohms so OK. I removed control panel, unplugged connectors, especially the RTD connector at circuit board. I also unplugged keypad, but don't think that did much. Could find nothting obvious on circuit board thus reassembed system and it WORKED and at over 400F, which it has not done for a LONG time. My guess is "open" on connector. We will see how long it works, but clearly something has changed.

What problem are you having with the oven and are there any error codes?

The only thing that causes an F4 is an open oven temp. sensor. Something in the ERC may be causing the sensor to short and open up causing the F4. Take out the sensor and check it at room temp. you should get between 1 and 1.1K ohms. If you don't then either the ERC is causing the problem or you can check the wiring to the sensor for shorts. Also make sure whenever you replace the oven sensor that there is enough insulation in the hole it goes through so it doesn't cause heat to get to the wires. This can cause it to open or short.

Hello,

When checking the sensor it shouls be checked at room temp (even if power off) at it should be between 1060-1100 ohms at room tempature. 16 ohms the new sensor is shorted the F2/F3/F4 all relate a faided sensor and the F5 error code says the clock (electronic oven control) is defective.

Test the sensor again at room temp...if only 16ohms its no good and will throw the F4 code everytime again a good sensor measured at room temp should be between 1060-1100 ohms

F4 Shorted oven temperature sensor Replace oven temperature sensor

Fault codes F1 and F2

Just two work there:
1.- Replace the touchpad or the clock (ERC) if the code "F1" is displayed. Disconnect the ribbon connector to the touchpad. If no code is displayed after an hour, replace the touchpad. If the code displays again, replace the clock.
2.- Replace the oven temperature sensor if "F2," "F3" or "F4" is displayed. "F2" indicates the oven temperature is too hot and the oven temperature sensor is suspect. "F3" or "F4" indicates the oven temperature sensor or shorted or open.

Parts replacement coudl look in www.repairclinic.com

Hope helps.

Oven wont light gaves F4

Hi, the F4 error code means Open or shorted oven temperature sensor (RTD)..
Check sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok.

F4 code Dacor oven

F4 means there is an open circuit in the Oven Temperature Sensor. Could be a bad sensor that needs replacing, cound be an issue with the wiring harness.

A test would be to short the sensor wire together at the sensor. the error code should change to F3. then you would know it is the sensor and not the harness.

F4 error code on Jenn-Air W30400BC expressions built in oven

Slone, F4 is the code for a shorted temperature sensor. This is the temp probe in the oven. There are 2-quarter inch screws holding it on. It should pull out through the insulation until the quick connect comes through. If you want to make sure, the sensor should ohm out at 1143 ohms at 100 degrees. I think you can be pretty sure that this is the problem. The part number I have is 704657. Catriver.

PROBLEMS WITH FR ERROR MESSAGE APPEARING

Mewood What part did you call "thermostat"? If you?re talking about the device which operates the oven temperature, your oven does not have such thermostats. It has two oven temperature sensors (one in each oven) and a control board (ERC). An error code "F4" will be displayed along with a beeping sound if the ERC determines an open oven temperature sensor circuit. It can be the sensor itself or the wires that connect the sensor to the ERC. The F4 message will not be displayed in the time of day mode. To get access to an oven sensor and wires, the oven has to be removed from the cabinet. Then you have to remove the rear cover. Then unplug the oven sensor and check the resistance across the oven sensor. It?s supposed to be about 1100 ohms at room temperature. If the resistance is incorrect, the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. If not, check all the wires from the oven sensor to the ERC. If it is not the sensor and wires, you have to replace the ERC, but most likely the problem is with the wires and/or connections. Part number for ERC is 62965, part number for oven sensor is 62593. Gendos....post back.
