Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Turns out my Goodman is Model # GMT070-3, so the problem is the exhaust fan turns on for a short amount of time, say 2 min. but no heat. I don't hear or see burners firing up. How would i check to see if the automatic ignition system is down. it doesn't glow. could it be something else before i remove it?

Yes, there are several things it could be ( ignitor, plugged vent, pressure switch, bad fan, and others)

I have a Goodman Heat pump unit. The fan motor stopped working and the condenser does not turn on, it hums as if the load is there but nothing turns on? Capacitor?

Capacitor or stuck fan motor/compressor. use caution when working with capacitor as they hold large amounts of electricity for a long time. they can be very always turn off the breaker and check for stray voltage before touching any electrical components

Furnace will not respond to thermostat call for heat. Thermostat has been replaced with no effect. Have been informed it may thermocouple problem. Please advise. Thank you.

there's no thermocouple.there is many other safeties.hears what happens when you turn on;.1 draft inducer motor comes on. if all is ok with vent, then; 2 ignightor turns on .after a few seconds; 3 gas valve turns on if all limit switches and inducer switch are closed;.4 flame sensor checks for flame.after short delay fan comes on.if any safety switch is open theres no heat.look in little window and count red blinking light.theres a chart inside cover that will tell you whats wrong.some times theres water in tube going from draft inducer to diafram switch.the limits around fire box can be reset by pushing button in center.if theres no red light then low voltage transformer may be bad theres also a little fuse on board.if its blown you need to find out why.also any of these parts can go bad at any time.good luck

Ihave a Goodman GUS075-3 model. Turned the heat on for the first time this year. After abt 5 mins. running it started to smell like it was on fire, the breaker shut off. Now,the pilot keeps going out and...

I would suspect that your fan motor burned out. What I would suggest is wait about 1/2 hour with thermostat turned down to lowest setting where it is not trying to turn furnace on. I would then turn thermostat back up to call for heat and see what happens. Most electric motors have a thermal overload on them and if its on motor will not run until it cools back down. Even if this works I would recommend that you have motor replaced and clean blower. Hope this helps. Thanks

I would like to test my goodman before i hook it up to gas i have red light with power applied when i short the thermostat wires nothing happens can you help

Yes! make sure the door is on the unit to close the power switch first and observe the cycles. This should be a 4-step cycle, #1, vent fan turns on.... #2 the pilot lites ups.... #3 the gas valve sends gas to the gas ports to heat up the box...& #4 the main fan should comes on!T Y V M !

Goodman gmp075-3 led blinks 5 times

I Also have the same and other problems with my furnace model # GDS80703AXBB. First the LED kept blinking 4 times and I too jumped the primary limit, that didn't kelp. After several attemps I moved the wires going to the circut board and everything starting working again. After a week It stopped working again, so I pulled the plug out of the circut board checked all wires for for a bad connection plugged it back in. Now the LED blinks 6 times again I move the wires. Then the LED blinks 3 times. Then the transformer burns out. I have burned out 2 transformers and I have ordered a new circut board.

Goodman GMS90904CXA Wont ignite, light blinks 3 times

Ok, you either have a inducer fan issue or a pressure switch issue or a plugged vent pipe. The inducer turns on to establish a draft for the exhaust. If it is not working you will get this error code. If the pressure switch does not sense pressure caused by the inducer, it will give this code. If either the intake pipe or exhaust pipe is blocked (even y just a little) it will give you the same error code. If the condensate hose or receptical is plugged, again it will give you this error code. Good Luck!

Pilot on but no heat to radiators

There is a gas valve inside the heater (is it on?), There is also sometimes an electric starter that goes bright on start (is it?), Do you hear whirring noises on start? Is the valve switch set to ON?

I have one of these and if the pilot (electrical) turns on and the gas is not flowing then is senses a heat failure and stops. Then on the control board light blinks (seen through plastic cover).

These also have to spin an exhaust fan, that bearing sticks, if it fails to turn, the unit will fail to start after 1 min. Does any of that makes sense?

No heat, trouble shooting light has continious flash.

There is a vacuum sensor on most units tied from the exhaust gas fan to the sensor. Does the unit try to start? If the unit's exhaust fails to pull the switch it will turn off after about 30-45 sec after starting. "IT" thinks it's not exhausting and stops to keep from overheating. Do you have this exhaust fan and rubber hose to sensor? Can you see if that fan is turning on start?
