No, the fuel line fits on a barb of the side of the carb.
There is a line of the same size coming off the intake manifold (where the carb is screwed on).
There is a butterfly on each end of the carb: the choke & the throttle. as soon as the throttle opens the motor dies. The saw will run & warm up completely in choke on mode I don't see a barb for the vacumn line to hook on to & suspect that it is the root of my problem.

  • gchoyman Oct 02, 2009

I see 2 numbers on the tag:
    967 04 13-00
    01 3300279
as I interpret what you explained
    01=2001 year
    33=33rd week
00279= 279th saw of the week

There is a hose barb on the carb for premix
    & 1 on part number:503 92 85-01
There is a hose on the barb & it is just kind of laying there.
There is a slot in the housing, where the hose could potentially go
I don't think there is a breather rattling around in the cavity.

Sort of strange to have the intake sucking air...
but my 2 stroke experience is mostly motorcycles.

  • gchoyman Oct 02, 2009

    I had found the manual
I still don't know where the other end of the hose goes?
Admin should make a sticky of the serial number explanation...
I gave it [carb] another good cleaning, blow out all the little passages & give it another shot in the morning

  • gchoyman Oct 03, 2009

I re read what you said [& gave the carb another going over]
the U shaped hose was split on the very end [damm ethanol] so it popped off the other manifold connection. which I couldn't actually see until I took the intake adapter all the way off...

    Thanks for your help
    Don't bother 10

Now that I have a complete solution how do I fix the testimonial?

I'm on my way to the arborist site.
I'm probably building a chainsaw mill in the next year, to make use of some redwoods & cedars, which of course is going to require a bigger saw LOL

There are 2 lines from the fuel tank on my 359. The one with the fuel filter on the bottom goes to the carburetor. The second goes back down through the plastic housing and appears to be capped off underneath, probably a vent.
Illustration J shows 2 lines.
Below the carburetor the is a u shaped hose both connections are within 3/4' of one another below the carburetor. I think it is pn 537 24 65-01 on detail G. HTH
Your serial number is the key to the correct IPL for you saw.
sn 06 1500198.
06 - year made (single digit prior to 2000)
15 - week made (mid March)
00198 - 198th unit produced by Husky that week.

Your understanding of the sn is correct. The lower number is the sn. 279th saw, weed eater, blower, whatever.

    I think this your IPL

IMO something goes in the open intake fitting. How can you anyone properly adjust a mixture with an opening to atmosphere? I can't tell from the IPL, I suspect there may be a hose between the open the carb fitting and the boot it is attached to. I cannot determine that from the IPL.

The only payment I get for this is your rating and perhaps some kind words. HTH

If you make post your problem here including the SN a saw owner with the same configuration may be able to provide better guidance. Chainsaw thread (free to join)

I meant what you knew. Thanks. You may have actually done me a favor. That hose on my saw is damp. I'll keep a eye on it.

A couple of more gee whiz things to file away. I use 100LL Av Gas - no ethanol. I use Stihl 2 cycle oil (contains a stabilizer). That combo I've been told can be kept for 2 years. I mix 1 gal at a time and only keep any not consumed until cutting season is over. The initial carburetor settings to meet EPA requirements are from lightly seated, H=3/4 CCW, L=1.5CCW. Every other nation in the world from lightly seated 1 turn CCW for both. I enjoyed chatting with you. You would fit in well at ArboristSite. Be warned! We are all carry highly infectious CAD. Hi, I have a 13.5hp Briggs & Stratton motor which starts and will only run on choke slow rpms and mild smoke.

check the point where the fuel hose goes to the fuel tank
there is very fine filter in the hose that could be blocked preventing full fuel flow
only running on choke indicates insufficient fuel flow

I have a yerf dog utv. I bought not running. I took the carb off and found it was clogged up with stale gas & junk. I cleaned it several times, run wire thru jets, etc. drained tank & elect. pump,...

its prob a vacuum petcock, not a pump. they're a pita sometimes. you can rig them so they work all the time by opening them and fudging the valve (or buy a new one, cheap on ebay). choke should extend when it gets hot. you can test it with 12 volts. will extend and block the choke.

Will not start. Has spark, gas, chain oil,on/off

If everything you say is true it is flooded. Have you tried the EXACT start procedure from the manual?
My 359 floods in a nano second if I leave the choke engaged once it attempts to start. The only other time it really gave me trouble was one time I failed to set then turn off choke when it was warm. Setting the choke also sets the fast idle. Pulling the starter with choke engaged floods it once it has fired. This should be similar to your Operator's Manual.
Start Procedure
  1. Ignition on/off to on
  2. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release
  3. Pull (close) choke, set fast idle (done when choke closed on some saws); pull starter and listen for an attempt to start. once heard (usually two pulls; no more than 4)
  4. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release
  5. Push (open) choke pull starter until it starts. (usually first pull)
  1. Ignition on/off to on
  2. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release
  3. Pull (close) choke, set fast idle (done when choke closed on some saws) - Don’t pull with choke closed.
  4. Push (open) choke, pull starter until it starts. (usually first pull)
Incase you've misplaced your manual:
Enter the 3 digit model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)
Serial number decode – for use with IPL
06 1500198
06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit before 2000)
15 = week produced - March
00198 = 198th unit Husky produced that week

Yard machine ym26ss straight shaft trimmer. New gas,

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
6) replace gaskets/diaphragms
a) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb
b) fuel pump diaphragm goes against the carb body,
then the gasket towards the outside
c) metering gasket goes against the carb body,
and the diaphragm goes towards the outside

Husky viprating on tick over and now wont start

I think you are saying it sputters but won't run. Once it attempts to fire open the choke or it may flood. My 359 start:
Cold: pull out choke control, pull starter (usually twice) while listening for attempt to start. Once it fires push choke control in and
continue pulling (usually once more).
Warm: pull out choke control (sets fast idle), push choke control in, pull starter.
Page 19 of my manual.
Once flooded these are a bear to start.
