To remove the front cover and gain access to the switch, insert a small screwdriver under the bottom of the cover and pry it out. The cover will pop off and then lift it, to free the top tabs. With the cover off, you will be able to see the switch. Another check you can make is to see if the arm and gate are free. Remove the bucket from the freezer and with the bucket assembly out, turn it over and manually work the arm, to see if it works free and if it opens the gate. You will be able to see the gate. If both parts seem to be ok, the problem will probably be electrical and a volt/ohm meter will be needed to make these checks. ----------------- for getting new switch you can get it from ------- www.partselect.com or from www.repairclinic.com ----------------- thanks.this will help.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.please do rate the solution.

If you have water to the fridge and water works when 110 put to valve the only thing left is the switch on the control panel. Does the ice switch work properly? It seems to be either one or both of those.. try putting an ohm meter on the switch contacts and see if it changes when open/closed to determine if its bad. you can use ohms or continuity for this one...

Changed out water valve. not getting water out of dispenser now

Hi,

Check for voltage at the valve when the dispenser paddle is depressed, if you have 110 volt or higher you switch and door is functional. Disconnect the water line under the freezer door and hit the dispenser paddle again. If you have water there then the door is restricted inside the freezer door (most likely ice).
Good Luck

The water dispenser stopped dispensing.

At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , turn on the dispensor light for several hours , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig .
If the water line in the door is frozen , GE has a dispensor heater which comes with instructions to install . Pt # WR49X10173 .

I need to replace the control board for the ice dispenser. How do I remove the cover to get to the module. I tried prying off the cover but am afraid it is going to break. I am not sure where I should pry...

All you need is your kenmore model number and replace the dual water control valve on rear of your refrigerator. They have one side for ice maker and other is for water dispenser. You can test the voltage for 120 volts as someone presses dispense water. Most likely the coil that opens the valve for water is defective. Sea Breeze

Water will not go to ice maker

It's most likely a bad water valve. If the valve is good, you will have a bad micro switch inside the ice maker head or a bad motor. You can check the water valve by connecting 110 volts to it. First disconnect the power plug and the water line opposite where the supply from the house connects from the water valve. Connect 110 volts (Just for a second) to where the plug was attached. If water does not squirt out, its a bad valve. Good luck.

No water from dispenser

I had the problem with the water dispenser not working.i tried all kind things finally I figured out the water was freezing ing the door. I cut a piece of 1/2 styro foam out that covers right below where the ice is dispensed just a square and use double sided tape to stick it to the back side of the door and haven't had anymore problems.

Kenmore Ultra Wash dishwasher

check and see if you are getting ac 110 volts to your water vave when trying to start the unit. if no power check your breakers and /or the incoming power to your dishwasher if they are ok and show 110 voltage coming to the unit then you probably have a control board or touchpad problem which would need a little more detailed check out.
If you do have ac 110 to your water valve then you may just have a bad water valve. Because the washer has to fill first. Hope that helps!!

Ge gsl25jfrfbs water disoenser not working

Solenoid or the dispenser switch.

The water supply line connects to a water valve on the Ref. this water valve has two solenoids, one for the ice maker and one for the water in the door. Check this solenoid with an OHM meter.

The dispenser switch should send 110 volts to the solenoid. Check at the solenoid while pushing the water switch in the door.
