Re: brother sewing machine

Check for a broken belt. If it is gear driven a set screw may have come loose on the spindal inside. Some also have a clutch wheel it the rear and if that is not tightened down it won't spin.

I keep getting the e6 error message for tangled thread but when i go to fix the tangle there isnt one and both bobin and spool spin freely any help would be great im at a total loss

The "thread out" sensor can be triggered if the thread is not between the tension disks. That is usually caused because you threaded with the presser foot DOWN. You MUST raise the presser foot when you thread your machine; that is the only time that the tension disks are spread to accept thread.

How do I adjust the timing on Brother inovis 1500 sewing machine?

Clean the machine, especially the bobbin and bobbin case area and around the feed dogs. Take all the thread off the top of the machine, including thread off the spool pin. Raise the presser foot. Rethread the top with the presser foot UP, which lets the thread get between the two tension disks. Put the foot down to sew, and hold the ends of the bobbin and top threads together behind the presser foot for the first 2-3 stitches in each seam.

I place the fabric on the machine, lower the foot and apply pressure to the foot peddle, when the machine begins to sew fabric is pulled down and the lower thread tangles, the machine make a crunching...

This is easily solved. Before you start sewing make sure your upper and lower threads are long enough for you to hold before lowering the presser foot. If these threads are too short they both get carried down into the bobbin along with the fabric and cause a big tangled mess. Always hold your threads at the back of your work with your left hand then lower your pressure foot and don't release the threads untill you have taken several stitches. Keep holding these threads during backstitching at the beggining of a seam too. Works like magic.

I was sewing and all of the sudden, the bottom thread became tangled . I have tried to rethread and clean the bobbin scuttle area. Nothing works.

This is usually caused by lack of top tension or threading the machine with the pressure foot down.

-Set the top tension dial to 5

-Raise the pressure before threading the machine

-"floss" the thread by holding the thread as it comes off the spool with your right hand and holding the thread right before the needle with your left hand.

Make sure to do that with the pressure foot up. What happens is sometimes the thread doesn't go into the tension discs all the way due to lint or something else.

With the pressure foot up, you should be able to pull the thread easily right before the eye of the needle and when you put the foot down you should then feel a fair bit of tension on the top thread.

Cant get my tension right on my brother sewing machine vx 877 can you help me

Thread the machine with the presser foot up and then adjust the tension to the setting you need - general purpose sewing thread is around 4.

Threading with the foot raised is important as this opens the tension control and allows the thread to properly seat into the mechanism.

When a sewing machine is threaded with the foot down, the tension is closed and the thread cannot enter as intended and the tension control has nothing to control.

If this does not help, the machine may need the the spring in the tension control replaced. You will have to search for parts on the Internet or check with a Brother dealer.

You should not have to adjust the bottom tension when using sewing thread.

There is a tiny screw on the side of the bobbin case - left/loose; right/tight.

Mark the screw head slot and edge of the bobbin case with nail polish or sharpie so you know where you started.

If you are having a stitching problem that appears to be loose bobbin thread, it may be that the machine was threaded with the presser foot down.

Always thread a sewing machine with the presser foot up.

When the presser foot is down when threading, the thread cannot enter the tension control and you get loose, loopy stitching.

Appearence of loop and no zigzag stich on ls-2125i brother

The loopy stitching is usually do to threading the machine with the presser foot down.

Raise the presser foot and re-thread or pull about 8" of thread through the needle and see if the loopy stitches go away.

This may also be the issue with the zig-zag stitch.

When the machine is threaded with the presser foot down, the tension is closed and the thread cannot enter as it should for the tension to control the flow of thread to the needle. The thread then feeds too fast and the stitching is distorted.

Persistent E1 message

some machines have a presser foot sensor or switch which prevents the machine sewing if the foot is not down.

if your presser foot is down and you still cannot sew the switch or switch actuator is most likely damaged. you will require a tech to repair this.
