Question about Handspring Treo 90 Handheld

Treo 90 hot sync problem "HotSync terminated"

When I try to hotsync I get the following message:

"HotSync operation was terminated.
Some of your data was NOT backed up"

It doesn't matter how many times I try I get this message. I have used my treo for 3 years with no problems.

How can this problem be fixed. I have all the upgrades.

What is happening with the Sync? Does your PC and the Palm Desktop Manager recognize your TREO 600? If not, the issue may be that somehow the driver for your device was removed. I would suggest upgrading to the latest version of the Palm Desktop Manager and try plugging in your TREO 600 again and try synching.

Here is the location for the free software from Palm.

You also have to make sure that the setting on the Palm Desktop Manager is the same as the type of cable you are using. If it is a USB cable, have that setting on your PC's Palm Desktop Manager Hotsync settings.

SOURCE: Treo 755p Getting Stuck During HotSync

If you have another computer you could try installing the software on that to see if the Treo will sync.
This would determine if it's a computer problem or if it's your Treo.

When you unchecked the datebook to sync after uninstall/reinstalling, was it able to sync then?

I have had other palms get hung up to a certain point during the sync, but uninstalled the program or disabled it from syncing like you tried and it usually works.

Palm Desktop compatibility with Windows 7 and 64-bit editions Palm Desktop 6.2 was designed for 32-bit editions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. You may be able to use this software with other versions of Windows.
Windows 7: Many users have successfully installed and used Palm Desktop 6.2 with Windows 7. Palm has not done thorough testing with a range of third-party equipment running Windows 7, therefore Palm cannot guarantee compatibility.
64-bit editions of Windows: USB HotSync is not supported. Instead, synchronize through a Bluetooth wireless connection: set up Bluetooth HotSync.

Sounds like the problem is the LCd screen already. Have you tried doing a hard reset to your palm? The data in your palm can only be transferred using Hotsync. Try uninstall/install the software again to the new computer. May i know the Windows OS of the new computer and what is the model of your Palm.

Palm OS-based PDA freezes up

If you’re not sure what file or application is causing the problem, you’ll need to perform a hard reset. Before you do this, be sure to perform a HotSync so your data is properly backed up (the hard reset will erase all data on the PDA). To perform a hard reset, press the power button while performing a soft reset. Replace the power button when you see the Palm/PalmOne logo and press the Up button when prompted.

Next, find your Backup folder on the desktop. You’ll usually find this folder located within your user folder, which is usually located in either C:\Program Files\Palm, C:\Program Files\palmOne, or C:\Program Files\Handspring. Your personal folder will resemble the user name you selected for your device. If you used your first and last name, for instance, your user folder will likely be the first six letters of your first name followed by the first letter of your last name. Rename the Backup file to Backup.old and HotSync your Palm to restore personal data. Because you renamed your Backup folder, no applications or additional files will be restored at this point. Instead, an empty new Backup folder will appear. Move applications from your Backup.old folder into the new Backup folder one at a time and HotSync your Palm. After each HotSync, try to reproduce the problem. If the problem doesn’t reappear, move on to the next file. Delete any files that cause a problem after they are moved onto your PDA.

Lost all contacts, memos, tasks, after LifeDrive Update 1.0

This morning I downloaded LifeDrive Update 1.0, and when I did a HotSync afterwards, I got an error message saying, Handheld Tasks application database version not supported. Handheld Notes application database version not supported. Now my contacts, memos, tasks, calendar entries and possibly other items are all gone!! This is the core data that is the reason why I use a PDA! I would be totally distraught, except that the data does still seem to exist in Outlook on my PC. I am running Outlook 2002, SP3 on a WinXP machine. Can anyone help to fix this problem? thanks,

Error message using IrComm port

Hi, Right click on hotsync manager at the bottom right corner of the pc , make sure only local serial and ir is having a check mark , if anything else has check mark , just go to that and do a left click , it will get unchecked . On the handheld tap on home , on the main page u will see hotsync icon , tap on that , on the hotsync page make sure via ir , and not cradle or cable , then at the top u will see hotsync in words , tap on that , in the drop down u will see lan sync pref, tap on that and make sure lan sync is highlighted , and not local hot sync , since local hotsync is usefull only when u perform cradle or cable hot sync using usb , then click on ok , try a hotsync . If this doesnt help and again u get the same error , do a soft reset on the handheld and on the pc , go into hotsync manager , click on setup , choose local , change the com port to a different port and reduce the speed to 9600 , click on ok restart the pc and again perform a hotsync . The error u got was coz of this , on ur pc a ir port is not been assigned .. Try this it should work .. Regards

Sync fails with "too many open databases"

This is what I did to fix that error:

Hard-reset your Palm to erase all data (that usually involves pushing the small "reset" button on the back, then pressing the "power on" button until the device boots, and then pressing "up" to confirm the hard-reset)

After that, sync your palm. The sync software will ask if you want to use your existing profile or create a new one. Create a new one. Then the program will offer to sync your Outlook profile with your Palm. Click on "ok", and a message asking you to accept to sync your Outlook data with more than one profile will pop-up. Click on OK, again... and that's it!

HotSync Problem on Treo 90 When I press the HotSync on the Trio 90 cable (I do not use a cradle) in place of the moving red and blue arrows moving, the Microsoft Unplug or Eject Hardware icon appears in the lower right portion of the task bar. I assume this means that contact has been made between the Treo 90 and the PC. This icon remains until I receive the following message on the Treo 90: “HotSync Problem” “The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again. This problem began after I updated to WinDesktop_401_ENG_V, Treo90Updater11, and PMStdUpdate3171. I downloaded USBRegClean.exe and used it. Then I reinstalled WinDesktop_401_ENG_V and the problem continued. I emailed my log to Chapura Support. Unfortunately, this was done after I had uninstalled and reinstalled everything and the log did not show here a Synchronization had been established because after the reinstall, I have been unable to Synchronize. I checked the PalmOne knowledge base and did the following: I checked to make sure the cable from the HotSync was is securely attached to the USB port in the back of the PC and that the cable was securely in the Treo 90. I click on the HotSync manager, (Double arrow icon on the bottom right corner of computer screen), click on setup and then local tab and first set it to PC overwrites Handheld, this did not work, I then reset it to Synchronize, this did not work, I then reset it to Handheld overwrites P.C. This did not work. I also changed the speed settings to 9600. This did not work. I did a soft reset of the Treo 90. The reset took place, but the problem persisted. I did a hard reset, then uninstalled and reinstalled everything. However, when I try a HotSync, I keep getting the Microsoft unplug or eject hardware icon. I uninstalled all UBS ports. The problem continued. Chapura Support suggested using PalmOne’s HotSyncCheck which I interpreted to be the “USBRegClean.exe” and used it again and then reinstalled WinDesktop_401_ENG_V successfully. However, when I reinstalled Treo90Updater11, and PMStdUpdate3171, when I attempted a HotSync it failed and I continued to get the Microsoft Unplug or Eject Hardware icon. Is there a fix? Is it possible that the problem is physically located in the Treo 90? If so, where can I take it to be checked and serviced if necessary? Thank you for your attention to this problem
