Question about Palm Treo 700w Smartphone

1 Answer

My Novell GroupWise password expired, so I had to change it. Since then Intellisync gives me an error ''Application login failed'' every time I try to sync my Palm Treo 700wx via USB cable. How do I reconfigure Intellisync to recognize my new password? If that's not the source of the error, how do I sync my Treo?

Before I can get to configure settings, I have to select preferences, open windows mobile device. But I found it.

However, before I got your email, I did something in configuring Active Sync that allowed my laptop to recognize Intellisync. So it's working now. However, apparently there is a way for Intellisync to talk directly to Groupwise without going through Activesync, so I don't have these problems in the future. Do you know how to configure that?

My IT folks can't support Intellisync unless it is installed on the phone itself. Verizon helped me install Intellisync (although they don't support it), and their directions installed it on my laptop and not my phone. So there is no Intellisync folders under programs on my phone. And it looks like it's that installation that is requiring Intellisync to go through Activesync before it can talk to Groupwise.

Can you help me reconfigure Intellisync to talk directly to Groupwise?

Did you get my response? Although you message displays an option accept or reply - it's circling back to accept after I submit my reply.

Well I would have preferred a different answer. Sounds like you're saying loading Intellisync on my phone isn't going to solve this issue. Is there anyway to load it on my phone anyway? At least that way, my own IT folks might be able to help me with future issues.

You'll need to change the password in the intellisync software on your computer. Right click the intellisync icon located in the lower right hand corner --- Look for the Configuration settings. You should see mail / calendar / address book. You'll then find your GW login name and password - modify the password.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Since it is a Windows based device it needs to go through ActiveSync, since you are using GroupWise you need Intellisync to provide the GW info. It's a long chain of communication - ActiveSync to Intellisync to GW and visaversa!

If you were only using Outlook intellisync would not be necessary, or if you had a palm OS based Treo, you could bypass ActiveSync and use a different program.

I'm guessing from your setup that you do not sync wirelessly. New versions of GroupWise use Intellisync on the handheld for wireless synchronization.

I hope this info is helpful.
