I had the same problem and asked their support site. After confirming my part number, they shipped out a new brew basket and it works great now!

Does thge mr coffee brew basket has a spring on the bottom?

Yes it does. The spring is around a plastic plunger that closes the opening to the brew basket when you remove the glass carafe during brewing. When you put the carafe back in it pushes up on the plunger the spring is around and lets coffee flow again.

Need a manual for JWX27

You can find the manual for this coffeemaker directly at the following link (for as long as it lasts): http://demandware.edgesuite.net/aamb_prd/on/demandware.static/Sites-mr-coffee-Site/Sites-mr-coffee-Library/default/v1414150683537/documents/instruction-manuals/JWX27_43_56431310.PDF

With this coffeemaker, you can brew with the cover open. I recommend observing a brew cycle to see if the coffee with floating grounds are overflowing the filter into the strainer basket. If this is the case, inspect the strainer basket's valve to make sure it is not blocked and working properly. Also make sure the pot is fully in place so that the lid aligns properly with the strainer basket to open the valve adequately. Otherwise, the filter and/or the coffee grounds are too fine. I recommend a permanent filter basket (around $5) and course-ground coffee. Both will add to better tasting coffee.

Model # jwx23 mr coffee cleaning instructions

I couldn't find any model JWX23. So, since your question (as much as it is) is categorized under model JWX27, I'm going to presume you need the cleaning instructions for model JWX27.

With the coffeemaker off (with no lights on or with the red light blinking), pour four cups of pure white vinegar (no water added) into the reservoir. Don't short the amount. You'll need four cups to complete the cycle. Remove any filters, but leave the strainer basket in place. Tap the "select" button three times until the red light is on (and stays on, not blinking). The cleaning cycle now begins. It should take between 45 minutes and an hour to complete. Don't be concerned about the 30-minute long pause during the cycle when nothing happens. This is intentional and part of the cycle.

After the cleaning cycle has completed, get rid of the vinegar. Rinse out the strainer basket and the coffee pot. Run a full pot of clean water thru a regular brew cycle (with the pot and basket in place, of course). Then, dump the water, rinse the pot and basket again, and run another full pot of clean water thru a regular brew cycle. Dump that water too. And, you're done!

COFFEE® Cleaner or vinegar. MR. COFFEE® Cleaner is available at manyretail stores or by calling the MR. COFFEE® Consumer Service Department at 1-800-MR COFFEE(1-800-672-6333). 1. Follow packageinstructions to prepare one batch of MR. COFFEE® Cleaner. Pour the mixture into the water reservoir. Before decalcifying, remove the water filtration disk from the machine. NOTE: 4 cups or 20 fl. oz. of undiluted, white householdvinegar may be used as a substitute for the cleaner. 2. Place an emptyMR. COFFEE® 10-12 cup basket-style paper filter or MR. COFFEE® permanent filter into the filter basketand slide the brew basket in place. 3. Place theempty decanter back in the unit. 4. Press theCLEAN button until the CLEAN indicator light turns on (Figure 9). For your convenience the cleaning cycle isautomatic. The entire cycle will take 45-60 minutes to complete. During thecleaning your coffeemaker will: a. Slow brewapprox. 3 cups of cleaning solution. b. Pause for 30minutes (the CLEAN light will remain on to alert you that the process is active). c. After 30minutes, your coffeemaker will brew the remainder of the cleaning solution. d. When complete, the CLEAN light will turn off and your coffeemaker will turn off. 5. The coffee will go all over the counter. We did not get a manual with the coffee maker. Could I possibly be setting the pot incorrectly on the plate?

Check the following:
1. Make sure that you are using the correct size coffee filter in the basket. Only one filter is needed to allow proper drainage.
2. Check the spring loaded button on the bottom of the coffee basket. Remove the basket, put some water in the basket, push the button up to make sure the water is released from the basket.
3. Put the basket back in place, insert the carafe and check to make sure that the top of the carafe cover pushes up the button on the basket to release brewing coffee.

If all these check out, then there is an internal leak and the unit need to be repaired or replaced.

I have a FTX49 Mr Coffee Maker purchased 9 months ago. It just started to leak in the front area where the round burner casing meets the tall front face of the unit (the groove area on both sides??) What...

There is a lever in the back of the carafe area that pivots and controls a spring loaged valve on the bottom of the removeable filter basket. This lever breaks easily. Pull the filter basket out and you can see the lever hanging down into the carafe "bay". (assuming it's not broken off entirely).

When you pull the pot out during brewing, the lever swings forward and allows the valve on the bottom of the filter basket to close. This shuts off the flow of coffee to avoid drips. The plastic lever is held in place underneath the valve by two round tab "ears". One of these ears can break off, causing the level to hang at an angle. This means the filter valve never completely opens, even if the pot is pushed in all the way. During brewing, the filter basket can't drain into the pot fast enough and overflows.

I fixed mine by going ahead and removing the damaged lever and then wedging the valve open. The spring loaded valve has a little drip "Spout" which hangs underneath the filter basket that directs the coffee into the pot. You can push in on the back of the drip spout and wedge something into the two slots at the back to hold the valve open. This let the coffee flow freely during brewing.

The "Brew Pause" feature doesn't work

It's the spring part on the bottom of that black basket. Now that it's broken there's really no fixing it. The only thing to do is call the manufacturer (800-726-0190) to get a new brew basket. They are open on weekends, so you could call them today and see what they can do (brew baskets are covered under the 3 year warranty, btw). Just have your model and serial number and you can probably have a new one ordered in less than 5 minutes. :)
