It boots up, and then says windows did not shut down propoerly. You can choose safe mode, last working settings, or regular. No matter what I choose, it starts to boot up, and then goes back to the beginning again. I didn't download the Bios update, my husband did, so I really have no idea what he got. I tried hitting F2 and going back to original settings, and that didn't work. I tried F12 and booting from the disk, and that also did not work.

Did you use the correct version of BIOS? Are you able to try flashing the BIOS again? Does the machine boot at all? If so where does it get stuck?

Yes, but you will have to either ask toshiba for a replacement Bios chip or search the internet for a Bios chip provider. Your problem is that the Bios has either not be allowed to finish installing or that the download update was corrupt. You will need to tell the vendor of a new chip the serial number of your motherboard, so have that on hand, to find the number you will probably have to lift the keyboard to see the number on the motherboard (See you handbook for how to do that). When you have your new chip you must carefully remove the old one and replace with the new one, avoid static and be careful. If you cannot do this then the best answer is to take your Toshiba to a dealer. Note: if a new chip is available it should not cost more than about €20 , so be careful of sharks!

My Toshiba Satellite Notebook is only showing a blue screen with the cursor in upper left hand corner blinking.

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows is missing - its most critical, core files have been corrupted beyond repair. The only thing you can do is to reinstall using the recovery cd or your own Windows install disk.

Toshiba satellite l305-s5933 have up at startup with blck screen background and tioshiba writing and the centre. asks to press F2 to go to setup or f12 to go to boot manager but when you press nothing...

Sounds like a corrupt bios to me. Download the latest for your particular laptop from the Tosh site and create a bootable usb with the relevant flash file. Restart and then try to access the bios again from F2

Cannot use wireless mouse or laptop pad for cursor functions.

Rosemary,

This is a very common problem with many Toshiba laptops.

The cause is the bios on the motherboard.

The best way to get the computer working again is to contact a local authorized Toshiba center.

They are still repairing the problem for FREE.

So make sure you don't pay!

Here's a link to Toshiba's repair center finder.

Make sure you call them FIRST before taking your computer to them.

Best of luck!
