Disk drives themselves do not require drivers. The storage controller (sata chipset) is what you should be looking at to determine compatibility. Do you know the manufacturer and model? (even just knowing the manufacturer/model of the motherboard would help if the SATA ports are on the motherboard).

Need help deciphiring red led error codes on Dell 9m905 scsci controller

Click start control panel administrive tools computer management then select event viewer depending on what operating sytem you have this may vary
extend the events there you will see errors in red you will no what exactly what the error was and at what time it occured you might have to uninstall then reinstall the program and its files
uninstall the program, reboot your computer, and then install the latest version again from scratch.
until you know what the problem is you cant fix it or you might try
you could run the check disk utility
click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to repair any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive this should schedule to happen when you restart your computer then defragment your hard drive
do not do anything while chkdsk is in process any input may damage your computer
or you might download and use this registry cleaner it is totally free to use
hope this helps

Computer Tips: Low Memory Problems

How to solve low memory problems...?

Normally this warning message shows when you run many programs same time than the RAM installed on your computer is designed to support. Your can solve this problem by increasing the system paging file size also called as virtual memory. Using this virtual memory windows moving information to and from the paging file for fast processing. This will free up enough RAM for other programs to run properly.
To increase the system page file follow the give path:

Control Panel > System > Advanced > Click on Settings (Under Performance) > Advanced > Change
Here under Drive (Volume label), you have option to select any of your hard disk drive, but the best choice is, select any drive other than C drive for virtual memory.

Set the double Initial & Maximum Size of your Virtual Memory. Here set initial size 700 MB and maximum size up to 1000MB; you can change this size according to the free space available on your hard drive.

Hi, trying to install windows xp on an acer 5920g. After the installation cd asks you to hit the enter key to start the installation there is a complaint about not finding a hard drive to install to. I...

You do not need a hard disk controller driver. The hard disk is configured in the BIOS automatically.
If Windows install cannot detect the hard disk then either the hard disk is faulty or the motherboard disk controller is faulty.
Re-seat the hard disk, it may not be making proper electrical connection and then go to the BIOS configuration to see if it detects the hard disk, if not then the hard could be faulty or the disk controller is faulty. In most cases it is the hard disk that is faulty.
To further test the hard disk, remove the hard disk and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter, then plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer does not see it as an external hard drive or you cannot open the various folders and files, then the hard disk is definitely faulty.
Then you need to replace the faulty hard drive.

Looks like it can't find the right disks/partitions to boot from.
The order may be being re-arranged when you attach them all at once.
Could be an issue with identification, are you using device paths

JFS224 change drive order

You need to get into bios to change the boot order. You can usually get into bios by tapping F12, esc, or whatever depending on who wrote your bios. Once you get into bios, you should see something like change boot order somewhere. If you don't know where it is then just keep scanning each page and you will find it. It will be called something "boot order". Use the directions on screen to change it to whatever drive you desire and you should be good to go. If you can't do it then write back and let me know.

RAID 0 Array disappeared after reboot

I would try the hard drive on another sata controller/port to verify that the bad drive is in fact bad. If it is really bad, then no there is nothing you can do but replace the drive and recreate the array (losing all data!).

You can not 'recover' a failed RAID-0 array because there is no parity or mirror data on an extra disk like there is with the other RAID modes. This is why people recommend against using RAID-0 for important data (unless you take frequent backups): RAID-0 actually increases your likelihood of losing your data. Statistically speaking, you are multiply the failure rates of each individual drive together.
