Re: DP-30 Disassembly

No special tool are needed, except small screwdriver, gloves, mask and a clean table and room.

You will run into optics viewing problem if not careful.

Want to remove the cover of the canon new f1 ae finder fn to find out why the exposure info is not displayed (at the bottom of the viewfinder) in aperture-priority AE mode.

This is very complicated. Take it to a professional repair place - if you can find someone who is still willing to work on this. Most techs (including me) won't any more. You have to remove the front cover, then the left and right side top covers, which is about 20 steps. Set at auto/asa 100 for reference. there is a plastic knob that looks sort of like a hat on the shutter speed dial that is glued on and is hard to remove without damaging it. There is a locking nut inside the shutter release collar. Etc. If you can find a copy of the SPT issue with that camera covered it will help you a lot. try eBay

How can I remove the top cap of the winding lever for Pentax K2? This is for me to remove the top cover as the lever is a bit sticky and I would like to lubricate it

K1000: Remove counter cover (3 setscrews around perimeter), remove counter disk (screw is right threaded - turn right to remove!!!!!), washer if not glued to bottom of disk, round nut with slots (also right threaded), lift off counter base, three advance lever spring screws, turn spring until loose, remove advance lever, remove washer underneath

K2: using a rubber stopper, and downward pressure on the cap/ cover screw, turn to right (this cap screw is right threaded!!!)If you try and turn it like you would a normal screw you will break it off. If the camera has corrosion under the cap screw it may stick - try heating with a soldering iron (careful the screw cap will be very hot). In extreme cases I have drilled two holes (one on either side) and used a pair of round nose fine tip pliers to turn it.

Unsure of which model you have as both are mentioned in post

My Pentax KX (analog) wont show apperture in viewfinder. Maybe something block the apperture window. What should i do?

There is a tiny mirror to reflect the f stops to the view finder.
Either this tiny mirror fell off or the needs adjustment.
You have to take out the top cover to have the access to this tiny mirror.

All my photos are coming out blurry, I shoot with a tripod for stability, I have tryed everything that I can think of to acount for Photographer error, so I can only belive that it is a problum with my...

There are only a few things that can cause this problem.
1. the mirror is not seating all the way down.
2. the pressure plate on the back door is loose.
3. the diopter on the finder is not adjusted to your eye.
4. long exposures ( vibration ).
Check your lenses with a different camera body.
Check your negatives with a magnifier. it could be printer problems.

I just fixed a me super but the frame counter doesn t reset when the 36st is reached or when I attempt to open the camera. HOW DO I RESET IT without openning it?

By opening, do you mean the back cover or the top cover?
after rewinding the film opening the back door will reset the counter. if it does not reset, try firing the shutter with the back door opened a few times. this counter is mostly plastic.
with the back door opened try taping the top cover over the counter to free the counter gear.
if it still wont reset the top cover will have to be removed and the counter repaired.
there are no new parts available for this model Pentax so a good used counter could be expensive.
if you take the top cover off, usually the pointer plate on the right side of the counter is rubbing on the counter preventing it from resetting.

Film wont advance

Metering lights are the LEDs that light up in the viewfinder. Camera on, look in the viewfinder to the right side you will see some lights. As long as these lights come on, P, M, A, *, ^ ,- You have put the batteries in correctly, and they have juice. Otherwise, you got the wrong batteries or put them in backwards.
The Minolta X-series (X-300/370, X-570, X-700) were known for this issue. Two capacitors under the top and bottom covers go bad over time. They prevent the shutter from releasing, so you cannot wind to re-**** the shutter. If you're handy at these things, you can buy the caps, remove the covers, solder in the new caps, and be fine. This issue is well known and you can find instructions on the web. Or you can send it in for repair. Garry's Camera repair in Niles,ILL will do it cheaply at $58 incl return postage. Look him up on the web.

I have lost manual Camera has battery but I only see black nothing when I look through the lens

If you cannot see anything looking through the view finder, that is either a lens problem, a defective view finder, or a faulty sensor.

For any of this faults you need a technician to fix the camera, call the Canon customer support number printed on camera documentation.

Try also removing the batteries and replacing with fresh ones, to exclude battery problem and to reset the camera, if there is really a fault this will not work, but you have to try.

Regarding the manual, you can download below.

This is a fairly common problem with Nikon FE . It is usually caused by poor connection ( usually dry joint ) between the light meter board ( all of this is just under the top cover on the right hand side and the top cover is quite easy to remove ) and the shutter and you fix it by resoldering all the connecting wires between the two.

My Pentax Camera Light Meter is not registering changes made to the Aperture Ring.

Take lens off to check the lens/light-meter coupler situated inside the lens mount at the top part of the mount at 'one o'clock' . First see if it moves freely ,clock wise. Then -with the lens off- look through the view finder while you activate the coupler : moving it should make the l.meter lights move up and down.
If you are not getting any joy the connection between the coupler and the board needs re-soldering ( dry joints ) : remove top cover and resolder two blue wires on left hand side of the board . This should do the trick.

My led's are not coming on at all on my Pentax ME Super.

Easy solution : remove battery cover and clean inside the battery chamber AND the battery cap/cover itself ( use pencil erasor or anything slightly abrasive )
More demanding solution : remove top cover and locate red wire on the left hand side of the circuit board ( impossible to miss; the wire brings power from battery chamber to the main board ) and resolder ( dry joint ) . You should also actually measure whether you are getting 3V through this wire ( one connection to the contact and the other to the body of the camera ). If you are still not getting anything out from the battery chamber the red wire needs replacing.
