Why wont iphone communicate with the ipod station

Have you made sure that there is no protective case on your iPhone that would be interrupting the connection between the two devices? Have you verified that your device is compatible with the dock? On most of the new ones they require a digital input from the iPod/iPhone which only iPods made in the past few years (2007 or later) can supply. Also try docking your device when the docking station is in standby mode.

sounds like the situation is with the AC adapter detection. try to restore your BIOS defaults and update BIOS if applicable. Test another AC adapter. If that fails, most likely, this is with the motherboard. You may either get a new board, or just continue to charge it using the docking station.

Sure! An Audio Source Sub power adapter is $38 +$9 shipping from this seller. It's importnat to know the power requirements of the device in either watts or amps to choose an adapter capable of serving the load. Otherwise, it might be too small and cause a fire. This one looks like it is like the one supplied originally.

I hope this helped & good luck!!

Try updating to BIOS to version A16 from http://support.dell.com Ensure you are not attached to the docking station when flashing the BIOS. Once updated, connect the 90W adapter to the docking station, connect your laptop to the dock, and power on using the docking station power button.

Remove Any Docking Stations or Port Replicators From the Computer Note: Docking stations and port replicators are optional equipment. If you are unsure if you have a docking solution attached to your computer, refer to Table 1 and Table 2 for examples. To remove the docking station or port replicator, perform the following steps: Shut down the computer. Remove the docking station: Universal Docking Stations: Disconnect the docking station's USB cable from the computer. D/Port or D/Dock: Remove any cable locks from the security slot on the right side of the docking station. Move the slide lock forward to the unlocked position. Press the Eject button and lift the computer from the docking station. C/Port II or C/Dock II: Remove any cable locks from the security slot on the left side of the docking station. Battery/docking station ac power

There is no manual way to switch from battery to AC, the machine or docking station should automatically switch between battery and AC. There is a power management chip inside the laptop that regulates the power and switches from battery to AC when plugged in. Some docking stations have a chip built into them to do this. Start by ruling out the power supply. Do this by undocking the laptop and plug it in using the power supply that is attached to the docking station and see if the machine is just running off of battery. If it is running off battery, then check the power supply with an ohm meter for the proper output. The output readings are on the supply. If you have two power supplies, and you know one works with the machine, try that supply on the docking station. If the power supply checks good, then I'm afraid the pm chip on the motherboard has gone out. You will need to take this in to have it professionally diagnosed, because it could be a replaceable component that works in conjunction with the pm chip. However, if it is the pm chip, then the motherboard will have to be replaced in order to fix it.
