Re: Hardware scanning resolution

You can set a max. resolution of 4000. 4800x4800 refers to the size of the image in pixels.

Changing resolution for scanning photos to get top quality for printing

The resolution settings are included with the driver software. If you are using a graphics program to access your scanner, then you can change the resolution within the graphics program, usually by clicking ththe 'image' tab in your graphics program.

Hi, i have a canoscan lide 25, it's installed, but when push the scan button, nothing happens. but when i open control panel and click test scanner, it works and makes sounds and says test is complete.

What is your OS? Do you have the full featured software installed and set up (TWAIN driver plus the Toolbox including ScanGear CS )? Do you mean the software scan button or the hardware (on the scanner) button?

If you are trying to launch a scan from the scanner, then scan button will only work if the computer has the full software and is running the monitoring program. You also need the default destinations in the software. These are the standard resolution for the scan and the folder to save the resulting file among other things. The full software is available for supported OS versions here: . Test scanning from the computer software as well.

If the problem is at the software on your computer, try a new data cable. If you are using a USB hub, try a direct connection. Scanners require bi-directional communication with the computer and will fail if there is any damage to the USB port, driver or cable. If you can, try a different USB port. If problems persist, disconnect the data cable between the computer and the scanner. Uninstall the Canon software and the driver. Then reinstall and try scanning again. (For Windows OS versions, check the Device Manager to make sure that your USB driver is working. Click Start > Control Panel > Hardware (title varies with version) > Device Manager. If you see a triangle with a red X or yellow exclamation point, try updating the driver.)

I hope this helps.

Canon scanner speed slow

Various ways....Try these! the slow problem wil get off

How to change the resolution (Windows)
The precision of printouts can be improved by changing scanning resolution.
The higher the scanning resolution is, the more precise the scanned images are represented, however, the file size gets larger.
The scanning resolution can be changed before scanning photos.
Note: When the scanning resolution is doubled, the image data size will be quadrupled.
When the data size is large, the throughput speed may slow down or may occupy too much of the computer's resources (memory).

Memo: The following is explained using MP Navigator 3.0 procedures.
To scan using MP Navigator:
1. Launch MP Navigator and click Photos/Documents (Platen) on the Scan/Import tab.

3. When the Scan Settings window is displayed, select the resolution in Scanning Resolution.
If necessary, set other items as well.
4. Click OK.
5. In the Photos/Documents (Platen) window, click Scan to start scanning.
6. Changing the resolution is completed.

To scan using the scanner driver:

80006642en_05sj00765_en_01.jpg- The window you see varies according to the printer model.
2. Change the resolution.

(1) Select the Simple Mode tab.
(2) Select the output resolution from the Destination pulldown menu.
If necessary, set other items.

When I save a scanned document you increase the file size. Please. Thanks.

Document size can be set before you scan.
Your scanner software should give you options for type of document and resolution settings. If your documents are to large, set resolution lower.
Example, Black and white or greyscale scans are much smaller in size than color documents.
Saving files as jpg will compress the file for storage.
If you have an image editing program you can decrease the size of the file after the scan.

Scanner is scanning slow

likely your resolution settings are very high, anything scanned at over 100dpi will take considerably longer. if it were a hardware issue then the scanned document would not be readable as the speed of the rollers must be sync'd with the scanning speed for a successful scan

I need to scan single page documents at 70kb on my HP 5500 all in one. I have tried changing all the settings that I can find and all my documents scan at about 200kb in pdf format.

Resolution and color depth are the 2 main factors that determine the size.
Scan in black & white, and reduce the resolution to 150 dpi, that should give you very small PDFs.

I scan text pages at 30kb with my HP 5610 in PDF.

Scanning Size

Do not try to change the scan size, change the resolution. The window that appears when you want to scan should have a resolution (DPI) area that can be changed. IE: 300 DPI to 800 DPI. This changes the picture size.

Scanning 4 x 6 photos

Try reinstalling the scanner driver or scanning in different resolutions.
The stretching is probably caused by the scanner motor, it isn't moving at the right speed. It also can be a hardware problem inside the scanner.
