Question about Microtek C783GM 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

1 Answer

I have a Microtek 710S which suddenly will not show anything other than a black, blank screen. When I turn on the button in the bottom center of the frame, it alternately changes color every second or two. I'm in the middle of a huge project and a looming deadline. Does it show any sign of life when you poweron the PC? With the PC powered on, remove the data cable of the monitor (yes the D plug) from the PC and insert it back. See if there are any signs of life. If there are any signs of life, reboot in safe mode by pressing F8 at bootup. If it boots in Safe Mode, then go to Control panel->Display->Settings->Advanced. Remove the Monitor and let windows detect the monitor. Same thing can also be done from Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager-. Monitor. Remove the monitor and from Actions select Scan for New HW.

My 710s Microtek monitor won't turn on. The led at the bottom turns orange as usual but doesn't continue to turn blue. It did yesterday. I tried connecting my monitor to my graphics card but that doesn't...

I would disconnect the cable from the computer, turn the monitor on and see if a small box with a message comes up that there is no input into the monitor..if so..its video card inside the computer or the cable.. or a driver...just guessing here...

My Microtek 710S Monitor screen goes black if left unattended for one minute. What do I do to keep this from happening?

Check the power setting of your PC.
  • If you are on windows;
  • Click on start button
  • If you have vista or windows 7, type "poweroptions" into the search bar.
If not, open control panel and find the power options inthere
  • In "power options" you can change when the displaygets turned off and when your PC will go to sleep, just change these settingsto the time you want, e.g. 2hours
I can offer support for other OS if required

I have a microtek 710s monitor, that powers on but

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Dialogue box in the middle of the screen

Out of range usually means that the computer is trying to use a resolution that is unsupported by the monitor. Try loading the PC in safe mode (for windows, press F8 before windows loads) and change the desktop resolution to 800x600, which is supported by pretty much any monitor. Restart the computer normally and you should get your video. Once inside windows you can experiment with different resolutions, and when it goes out of range, just wait 15 seconds for it to go back to 800x600.
