Question about Samsung DVD-P244 DVD Player

1 Answer

Audio warbles. Checked cables. It's the player. Cleaned laser optics with appropriate CD. Still warbles, volume ok but words almost incomprehensible. Any ideas?

Cd player volume problems

Hello
Just clean the CD lens unit, by inserting a cleaning disc into the CD drive and play it at least three times. If this does not help you, the laser pickup assmebley needs replacement. The lesns cleaning disc an be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops at your town, and won't cost more. OK.

I have an HT-DS1000 I bought used. The FM tuner works, the CD player works ok, but it will not read DVD's at all. It just continually says "loading." I hooked up an alternate DVD player...

Optical pick up out of tolerance. If you take disc out it should stop clicking. The clicking is the optical pick up lens hitting max extension due to focus not being achieved

No sound whatsoeveer

First, I would verify that the speakers have power. If they do, I would then check to see if the cables are firmly seated and in the appropriate jack (ie. not the microphone). If all of that is OK, then I would see if the computers audio is on mute (if so the speaker icon in the lower right hand corner will have an "X" on it) as well as adjusting the volume knob on the speakers. If your computer has multiple audio devices, make sure the appropriate device is selected for playback. If all else fails, I would then try to unistall and reinstall the audio device driver within device manager.

Also, If possible, I would test the speaker system on another device (ie. portable stereo/cd player/MP3 player) to narrow down the root cause of the issue.

Is the optical cable for the digital out on a Aiwa NSx5222 still available

I can't find any documentation for this model, but Optical audio cables aren't usually unique or proprietary so it probably IS available anywhere audio accessories are sold. They are expensive (*).

* A word to the wise: if you have a coaxial optical option, I'd recommend using it instead as the cable is just garden-variety RCA type (cheap-cheap-cheap), can be run a fair distance AND can be shared between two external devices with a splitter if you make sure the unused device is off.

My Sony cd player spins but won't play. Cleaned

Those CD cleaners rarely work. They are nothing but small brushes on a plastic CD. Unless the problem is loose dust, they won't work. Try carefully opening up the unit and cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that does not resolve the problem, post the model number and I'll provide the replacement optics part number and cost. Some units have replacement optics that cost less than $15. Dan

'no disk' error message

Hello
Replace the strip connection wire that connects the Laser Picku Unit to main board. If the fault prevails, the Laser Beam emission to your devices' Laser pickup unit is less, and must be replaced with same type and number. OK.
