Please backup the data by logging in to Safe Mode, please restart and start pressing F8 key to select Safe Mode then re-install the Windows 7 Operating System using the Recovery Disc or recovery Partition of the Hard Drive. The Recovery Partition can be accessed by restarting the computer and try pressing F10 Key. The Windows XP Operating System is displaying an error because it does not have SATA Driver to detect the Hard Drive. As Windows 7 has it, you can re-install it from recovery partition.

I have an old Medion laptop that ran XP. I reformatted the drive to get a clean install of XP. Now when I try to install XP nothing happens when I press F8 for XP Licensing Agreement. Same with a Vista...

are you booting the unit with the install disk in the drive..?
Make sure both the disk and the drive lens are clean
Look for a check box, if there is one and check it before you press F8
If all else fails
Try reformatting the drive again from within the XP install software and don't forget to choose NTFS as the file system..
If this fails, then try deleting the partition completely and then rewriting the partition back to the drive, again, all from within the XP installation software.

I have seen this b4 but only with a hard drive that was formatted with a third party partioning software like "patition majic" U can try using that software to add the new layering and retry your Win7 cd for another go.

I wnat to reformat my com from window vista to window xp, i have the CD for window xp how can i do that

Best way is boot to the VISTA DVD and delete the NTFS partition. Once you have done that, you should be able to boot to the XP CD and install XP. Caution, make sure you have already downloaded and saved the XP drivers for this model system, before you do the XP install. Some vista systems do not have drivers for XP or have FIRMWARE issues with rolling back the OS on some devices (Dell bluetooth 360 is one)

How to reformat the hard disk of my inspiron 700m

Easy enough To format your hard drive, insert the installation DVD(Vista) and go through the options until you get to choose which partition to install Vista on and just click the button at the bottom that says "Format".

Much the same in XP

Format my laptop.very slow and gets hanged

hi there. As long as you have an xp/vista disc the process is simple. Here's what to do:
1-Insert the xp/vista disc into the laptop.
2-restart the laptop and boot from cd
3-click to reformat drive and fresh install xp/vista
4-when needed, insert cd key which is located on the bottom of your laptop.
5-Make sure to install updates eg, service packs etc and security software.

Good luck!

I want to overwrite Windows Vista for Windows XP

you need to reformat the hard drive and then install XP.
to do this you will need to insert the xp disk and then reboot the computer/laptop. when prompted you will need to delete the existing partition and then create a new one. reformat the partition and install xp. you will need a valid XP code to do this.
Their are many good guides to formating and installing xp on the internet.

Deleted Vista Recovery Partition. Now XP installer can't read HDD

if you have created recovery disk before the deleting of the recovery partition u can format the drive from your bios and create a new recovery partition using the recovery disk if not if your pc has crashed and your recovery partition is gone u will have to get a new operating system software but if your pc is still stable just run the recovery manager and restore to factory settings and it will put recover partition back on your hard disk

How far through the setup does it get?
Have you done a full format on the HDD?
Does the HDD detect in the BIOS? Is it a confirmed working drive.
