Curve 8300 Battery Replacement Problems

I have a 2+ year old Curve 8300. The original battery just died and will not hold a charge (device does turn on when plugged in). I have tried 3 different batteries to replace it but no luck. The first 2 were from Radio Shack. They charged the first time but not after that. The 3rd is a RIM. It will turn on with the original battery but not with the new RIM battery. With the new RIM Battery nothing happens.

The posts look clean and appear to be making contact with the battery.

The gold posts that connect to the battery could be corroded or damaged in some way.

You should download and install the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager software from: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22&dl=DA5FB46338C8C0DCB1039F7898184FC5

Once installed, connect your BlackBerry to your computer via the USB sync cable. Open Desktop Manager, and click the Application Loader. On the right, you will see Update your device software. Click the Start Button, and if your BlackBerry is not on the latest Handheld Software, an update will appear. Select the update, and run the install. Be sure to select the option that backs up and restores your data. Once started, do not shut down your computer, or disconnect the USB sync cable as this could damage the device.

Once completed, your BlackBerry will restart and you will have the latest version available. This version has been known to correct various issues.

Does the phone come on while plugged in? To me it seems that the battery is dead. If you feel the battery is fine then you must visit the BB Service Center.

My blackberry curve 8300 eeps cutting of by itself and i have to take the battery out and put it back in in order for my phone to work again for like five minutes then it cuts off again.

You might want to check the battery life. Sounds like it's starting to get low or die out. With most the smart phones these days the battery is supposed to be good quality but the more they try to get perfect the more there are some that gets screwed up. That or you just charged you battery too much.

Battery doesnt charge

How old is the battery?
Brand new? Then return it and get a new one.
Older than one year? Buy a new battery.
In-Between? Check your warranty on the 8300 and get it serviced.

My blackberry curve restarts often on its own

Try a different battery - if that does not solve it, you have a bad BB.
If its less than a year old, or you have cell insurance - you should tell your cell company and ask them to cover the replacement

When I use my phone on my curve 8300 it shuts down.

try a new battery if that does not work then try reflashing the OS on the phone.

2. You need to install a BlackBerry OS file that is specific to your device. The original version, as supplied by the carrier, is the safe choice, but you can use any model specific version. This is not supplied on your BlackBerry CD, Ref: 3 links to BlackBerry's download pages.

3. Once the OS has been installed, you have to prepare it for the device.

Select Start / Computer and select the Drive C: Icon.

Open Program Files / Common Files / Research in Motion / AppLoader.

Navigate to the bottom and delete the file Vendor.XML file.

4. You are now ready to restore your device. Verify that BlackBerry Desktop Manager is NOT running. Plug the device directly into the computer's USB port.

We are about to venture into the bowls of the beast. Windows is not suitable for this job, we are going to invoke the Command line interface with an option switch.
Windows XP: Start / Run... / Command

Windows Vista: Start / Command (type this into 'start search')

Blackberry curve 8300 suddently died

Try somebody else's battery, if the problem persists, it's most likely a logic board issue. There are blackberry repair websites that show you how to do the replacement yourself, otherwise here is a service that can repair any Blackberry Bold, Storm, Pearl, Curve, 8800 for screen, lenses,
track balls, usb ports, waterdamage etc.
The website is: Blackberry Repair

Blackberry 8300 has been powein off for no reason.... I take the battery out and put the back it the hourglass comes up like its rebooting and takes a while to reload...

your battery may be getting old and needs to be replaced.
as they get older they don;t have the charge they do when they are new.
I would get a new battery and see if that handles the problem.
you can also let the battery die all the way...charge it overnight and do this for a few times in a row and see if it gets better.

But my suggestion is a new battey

8300 will not charge

My charge port is broken out of my 8300. I bought an extra battery and an external charger off of eBay for a little of nothing. You can also by a pod that will charge your Blackberry. The two gold tabs on the back of your device beneath the battery is an external charger connection for a desktop pod.
