SOURCE: wild thing motor runs but sproket doesn't turn

Hi, The clutch is shot! This is right at the drive sprocket. leave the bar an chain off and they will fix it in seconds. Warranty right?? If not, you will see an arrow on the way to turn to remove. With a screwdriver straight in on inside body of the clutch, give it a very sharp tap with a hammer. It may take a few trys! Sure wish you had told the make! My crystal ball is not working to well because of the rain! LOL Frankster016

Knocking noise of chain in honda dream yuga bike when accelerating after shifting the gears. i have tightened the chain but still it happens.

That knocking noise could be that the teeth on your main drive are worn out and chain is jumping them on acceleration.Pull th primary cover and check the drive gear for chain on motor sprocket.Replace it if worn to that point.

Motor runs but chain is static can get it to go if I pull the chain round by hand but any resistance and the problem returns

Clutch slipping due to wear, or the sproket teeth have worn to the point that it is slipping in the drive links of the chain, i have seen the teeth/spline on the sprocket drum become unbonded, so the drum tuns but the teeth/rim does not.

Having problems getting the chain back on.

What sort of problems?
Slacken off the adjusters, slip the chain onto the rear sproket and adjust the slack.

The chain on the MX500 dirt bike is slipping over the sproket on the back wheel. I've read the posts where the sproket turns but the wheel does not, that is not my issue. I'm thinking I just need to...

Is there a chain adjustment on this bike? It must be very loose to slip over the sprocket. See if there are two bolts that act as jacks to move the rear wheel back away from the drive sprocket. Loosen the locking nuts on each bolt, and tighten both equally until there is only 1/2 inch of play in the middle of the chain, then repost.

Chain seems to be installed correctly but when I start to cut the chain slips and stops it is properly tightened and pulls easily by hand

You need to inspect the sprocket for wear. Many time the sproket will get a groove worn in the theeth. When you're stopped, and on the normal teeth all is well. If you begin to cut and the chain moves into the goove it's suddenly loose. Replace sprocket and chain and you'll be sure they fit .

Did the chain come off while at speed? The chain catcher causes burrs to form on the drive links when occurs. Without the catcher the spinning sharp chain contacts your leg. Were you wearing chaps? We don't need no stinking PPE!!!
Use a flat file on the drive link flats to remove the burrs.

  1. Make sure the chain brake is off (gloves will protest your fingers).
  2. If necessary, loosen the bar nuts that are clamping the clutch cover in place (or whatever holds the clutch cover and bar on). They don't need these really loose - finger tight will do.
  3. Ease the tension adjustment until the chain is obviously loose.
  4. Using one hand, hold the nose of the bar up.
  5. While holding the nose up, adjust the tensioner so that the center of the chain just touches the underside of the bar, add a touch more.
  6. Continue holding the nose of the bar up & tighten up the bar nuts / bolts / quick-release system. HTH

Engine still cuts out and backfires after changing coverter

This seems to be a timing problem. backfiring usually means that the timing is off. The timing belt sproket could have worn off or belt its slipping. If your car has a timing chain that could have broken sprokets. Timing is usually the culprit here in cases like this.
