First, disconnect the power to the unit. (at the breaker) then turn it back on after 60 seconds.

That will reset the control board. If that does not work, it means you have lost low voltage.

Look for a small blade type fuse (like those in most cars) and see if it is blown. Make sure the power is off when you do this.

If the fuse is OK, and resetting it does not work, then you will need to check/replace the 24 volt transformer.

My air handler fan does not come on, the outside unit turns on fine. Is their a way to reset the fan?

Check for fan operation by turning the fan control at the thermostat to "on". If the fan blows, it works. If not, check a circuit breaker or fuse.

If the fan blows when forcing it on with the thermostat but not in automatic, check the fan control circuit in the air handler. Danger: high voltage, beware! There should be a system wiring diagram inside the air handler somewhere.

My fan on my trane a/c unit is not coming on outside

Is it just the fan or the compressor as well? Check the breakers at the main panel. If the compressor is running but not the fan...It's a bad fan motor, but I doubt it.

If you have a volt meter, check to see if you have voltage at the contactor, If you do, take a screw driver and push the contactor in, see if the compressor and fan runs. ( they run together)

Cheers

Hi!!

This means that the condenser fan motor (outside unit) failed, this caused to build hi pressure and either activated a safety valve to release the extra pressure or blew a line and R22 Refrigerant escaped from system.

The fix is to replace motor fan and capacitor find the leak and refill system with R22 Refrigerant Gas. It is safe to turn on the Fan Only mode on the Thermostat until a HVAC Tech arrives.
To perform this job parts and labor included will cost: about $300 -.$400. Look on the Yellow Pages for a Tech in your neighborhood.

as the motor is a brushless induction motor , the possibility of damage from a spike is remote
however electronic units will suffer damage so get in an electrician or replace the control unit and start/ run capacitor for the motor
