Hi, Some laptops do only come with one memory expansion slot.
In some cases the slots are on top of each other so one of them maybe out of sight if the RAM is in the top slop. The best way to determine this is to take out the memory (make sure the laptop is switched off and that all power is removed) and look underneath the memory to see if you can see another slot. If you can then there will the extra slot and you can install your new memory.
If you can't then the laptop will no doubt have just the one slot.
Most likely, no. So you'll probably have to buy a single 4g ram card or something, and sell your old one. Possibly, there are ram socket extenders, like usb ones, which split one into two ports. Though I'm not sure if they exist xD

Any device (card) that I try inserting into the pcmcia slot will freeze the Presario M2000 with XP. It did work at one time. I do not know when or why it quit. 1. Inserting a card when the laptop is on will cause it to freeze. 2. Inserting the card before resarting the laptop will keep it from restarting. The fan comes on and the screen stays black. Remove the card in this state and it will the load. 3. If I disable the Generic CardBus controller for the pcmcia before inserting the card, insertng the card has no effect. If I then enable the Generic CardBus Controller, the laptop freezes. 4. I uninstalled the Generic CardBus Controller and let the laptop reinstall it automatically upon restart. The problem remains the same. I certainly appreciate any suggestions that you may have. Rick
