Maytag dishwasher won't drain after i repaird a leaky gasket

Hello, I have a Maytag mdb7100awb washer. I just repaired the gasket, and then tried the drain function to test. The water went in find, no leak, but now all I hear is a little electrical hum that lasts about 3 seconds and then quits. After about 15 seconds it tries again...assuming that the pump is trying to start. Any ideas on where I went wrong? Some water did come out onto the motor when I took off the discharge hose to help ease the repair.

Actually, it was the tub gasket that I replaced...so yes, I did have to move the motor. Does that change things? :)

went home for lunch and fiddled with everything. i didn't undo anything when i lifted the motor slightly to get the new gasket on, but i can't guarantee that i didn't loosen something either. all the wires seem to be connected and solid. still get the short humming noise from the motor though. how do i turn the motor? i tried turning from the inside after taking off the spray arm apparatus. didn't work. any more suggestions. thanks for the suggestions so far.

new to this...where is this specific capacitor located. I've taken it apart all the way down to the lower drain impeller, and still not working...still getting the hum for a couple seconds. Guessing that the capacitor is the next thing to check. Just don't know how to do that.

Thanks for your help so far! :)

The issue is almost certainly with the motor. Possibly the wires that were accidentally interrupted, and if not, it is jambed. It has nothing to do with your replacing the door gasket if you never touched the motor. If it is jammed, remove piping attached to flange and loosen until you see the impeller. Rotate the impeller . If it turns easily, problem possibly not motor. Let me know.

Almost certainly the wires have been reconnected incorrectly. Make sure you have connected the motor capacitor.

Once you have access to the motor there is the electrical side and the pump/wash side. At the pump/wash side, remove the fat rubber hose that sits directly over the impeller. Once hose is pulled away, you will see impeller. Try turning impeller with your fingers or spanner or screwdriver until it turns freely. If it does, check capacitor for a possible short circuit. This will also cause humming as the motor cant start if capacitor is faulty.

If the capacitor is not attached to the motor by means of a nut, look in the vicinity of the motor for a small white cylinder shaped object. 2 wires will be connected to it. Another alternative that could be done, is remove the power wires to the motor and connect direct voltage onto the motor. If motor spins correctly then, i would then suspect board.(one more thing to consider, do you have a pressure switch controlling water filling or an electronic water pulsator. It detects water coming in via pulses instead of pressure. Often if pulsator is used, this can also create the same result if defective.

This dishwasher has a auxiliary drain motor on the right hand side. This motor often will get clogged with debris. Pull the unit out and check the drain motor for debris. The pump has three small screws that hold it in place.

We have a Maytag Model MDB7100AWB that is leaking from the lower RH corner. We have checked and repositioned the door gasket, and it helps but does not stop the leak. Any other suggestions?

make sure that the door is not hitting the surrounding cabinet or drawers. and check to make sure that the
dishwasher is not pushed to far back in the cabinet which will cause the door face of the dishwasher to hit the front of the cabinets and not seal all the way around,,
