In order to disable the onboard soundcard you'll need to get into the Bios, this is normally done by pressing down and holding either the F-1 or F-10 or F-11 key while the computer is booting up. (Without knowing the particular model of your PC this will be a generic answer) On some models the F-1 key is used to access the Bios on others it may be the F-10 or F-11 or some other key and you may have to determine this by trial and error but if the bios screen doesn't come up with the F-1 just try one of the others until you get into the Bios. Once the Bios screen comes up just search for the onboard audio option and disable it then save the setting and exit the Bios and re-boot, (caution be extremely careful when you are changing settings in the Bios because if you do the wrong thing you could make the PC unusuable and have to have it repaired)

Just try to install the usb drivers. and if they work properly you do not have to disable other devices.

Hi, I have E-MU 0404 sound card and win7 and no sound. I installed EmuPMX_PCDrv_US_2_30_00_BETA driver. E-MU seems to be the default soundcard and device is speakers. How to get sound out? Well there is...

There should be 2 analogue outputs on that sound card. Also make sure that all sound are set to the default sound card. There should be a check mark along with the sound card.

I have windows 7 64, an older EMU 0404 PCi and Sonar 6. No sound it is driving me crazy. ANy Ideas?

Windows 7 does not run everything especially older softweare/hardware. That is why there is an upgrade advisor available to test the compatability.

It is an integral part of the instal disc and available for download before you try to install Win7

E-MU 0404 Soundcard no longer functions

Reinstall the software driver for your soundcard to make it work. If you have the disc, just insert it and reinstall,
otherwise, you have to download it from the internet.

Audio driver installation failed

Disable the device from the BIOS. Reboot and run a registry cleaner - use a good one like Easeus. Download -  as in Save, not Run - the latest version directly from Realtek. Physically disconnect your pc from the internet (shutdown the wireless or unplug the LAN cable/USB modem , shutdown you security soft, reboot and enable the device from BIOS. Try installing now using the downloaded installer.

No sound upon installing E-MU 0404 pci card and driver

Hey ya'll.
I had the same problem with everything installed, icons on the screen etc...I took my stuff to my computer wizard and he came with the following solution which is:
Make sure that you have a Windows XP "SP2 or GREATER" this is the kicker.Go to the requirements sheet if you need more info.
Anyway I did that upgrade from SP1 to SP2 and it works like a charm with pristine sound.
Good luck fellows.

I cannot install drivers

Sometimes motherboard cd drivers bring multiple sound drivers, you have to make sure you choose the correct one. Below is the download page for audio driver for Intel D975XBX2 motherboard. Hope one of these from this page works for you. http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&Inst=Yes&ProductID=2578&DwnldID=8658&strOSs=44&OSFullName=Windows*%20XP%20Professional&lang=eng
