THIS IS A REVISED POST from my previous one. So lets start over.
I have 2 Motorola P110 2 Ch Radios. One powers up and when I press the PTT button the red light comes on, so I think it works. The 2nd one when I press the PTT button the light does not come on and it has a tone that turns off after I release the button. Switching batteries did'nt change. I want this unit to talk to the other unit. Is there a way to re-program them?
Is it possible that the unit in suspect has gotten locked into receive only mode?there are units set up this way, can you go into the system on this radio and re-set to the default operating mode?

This problem is typically caused by small component behind the PTT button being cracked or broken. The RDX series radios respond best if the user presses the PTT button in the center versus the top or bottom sections of the button. Once the button becomes hard to press it is best to get the radio repaired. Commonly if the radio remains in use the PTT issue will get worse as the internal PTT component is pressed harder, pushing it further away from the outside button and eventually loosening it from the component board.
Set both the frequency and the interference eliminator code to match one another. (The big number and the small number) Here is a link to the owners manual: http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/manuals/T56XX_57XX_User%20_Manual_E.pdf
Basic instructions:
Press the Menu Button
The freq number will flash
Use the + or - button to select the frequency.
Press the PTT button to save the channel setting.
To set the code:
Press the menu button until the code starts to flash (the small number)
Press the + or - to select the code.
Press the PTT to save the code setting.
Once you have both radios matching on frequency and code, they should communicate together.
Did the radios previously work together? If so, you have one radio in need of repair.
If the radios are new to you, and you do not know if they previously worked together, it could be a simple programming problem. Take it to your local Motorola dealer to check the programming.
One simple test to see if you have one with PL and one CSQ, is to press the monitor button and see if the two radios can communicate when they are in open squelch mode. (The monitor button will be one of the side buttons near the PTT.)
Normally in a Motorola T5700, to set a specific channel to monitor (and reply to) called your working channel, you press the Menu (center) button and the current channel shown in the display will flash. Press either the + or - buttons to change to your desired channel number which should be identical to both radios. Press the PTT button to save.
Likewise, both radios must have identical Interference Eliminator Code. To set code, press Menu till the code display blinks. Press + or - to select code. Press the PTT to save. To disable the code, select 0.
Hope that this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
