Question about Nintendo DSi Black Console

1 Answer

My sons DSi was dropped and the left hinge broke. i have been able to repair the hinge (as in put it back in but cover still cracked) and it opens and closes ok but when you switch it on the Nintendo white screen turns on and you can see the word nintendo and the first sounds, but within 2 seconds it freezes. Do you think the hard drive may be 'stuffed' too. It did this straight after the drop (not just after the repair attempt)

I had this same problem after my son dropped and broke his DS lite. The hinge broke and it was constantly freezing up. I did some research and decided that repair wold be the better and cheaper option to buying a new one. I found this repair place site online www.videogame911.com . I filled out the online order form and shipped it off. They had great customer communication through their website and kept me updated every step of the way.We had our system back within a few days as good as new which made my son very happy and at a very reasonable price which made me very happy. If you are looking into repair for your game system I strongly recommend them.

My son said he spilled soda on his dsi... it didnt get that wet but i think he dropped it. The bottom screen is a little faded and has lines in it. it still plays. is there a way to fix the lines?

No there is really no way to fix it unless if you ask the creator of of the dsi because the drop sorta cracked the screen of it. Depending on the side, top, bottom, back, where ever, it still cracks not necessarily crack but it has been to the point when it can't be fixed. The same problem happen to me except the case was that I dropped it a little more harder and the screen totally went black.

LG vx8350r hinge is broken on right side. Should I look for repair parts or a replacement phone? My wife like a simple phone and would keep this model if I can get it fixed

My VX8350 broke on the right side too. Actually it cracked and the pieces, 2 if I remember correctly, kind of were just hanging there (in other words I did not loose any pieces of plastic). I did a very careful repair and it has held now for about 1.5 years with no problems and I've even dropped the phone about 4 times or more since the repair.

I used the CA glue, (cyanoacrylate glue or some know it as instant glue). But be careful so you do not glue your hands to the phone. Use VERY LITTLE glue cause it WILL wick into places you do not want it to go. Lastly, you have to index the metal piece in the hinge (use a hefty pair of tweezers) before gluing so the spring with work correctly and hold the phone either open or closed. If you error on the indexing, try to error on the side which will keep your phone tightly closed when closed and just barely short of fully open when open. That way you won't be catching the closed phone on things with it hanging partially open. It doesn' t cause any problems being just a tiny bit short of fully open.

So, open the phone, carefully tilt the two halves to expose the metal hinge, index the hinge, carefully rotate the two halves back to their proper position and carefully test the opening and closing action. If it's good, or good enough, then put the chunk(s) that broke loose back into position and while holding everything in place put a TINY bit of CA on one of the cracks. This should setup very quickly (hence the name instant glue) and if you can still remove your finger from the phone, do so, and put a tiny bit of CA on any other areas or other cracks where the glue did not wick to. Remember to use very little glue for this or you'll be sorry and your phone won't work. If you did this properly, your phone will now open and close like it did before...or very close to it. Good luck.

Hello There, My son broke his Nintendo DSi hinge. Right side is connected to the top screen and Left side is not connected to the top screen. Please tell us what to do. Thanks, Emile

What you need to do is visit:
www.consoleshop.com
This site will have a wide variety of replacement cases to choose from.
This site has a case that I really want for my DSi. It's chrome. But you can find just about anything you want, from clear to chrome or any other color in between. You'll have to get a screwdriver from there to take it apart as well. It has a strange triangle screw. Your son's DSi will definately look better then it did when you bought it. cost range from $25 & up

I purchased my sons dsi in december of 2009.the screens are in per ferfect condition but there is a crack near the left nuckle where it opens an closes. At first the left finger trigger stopped workin now...

Not sure if the DSI would be covered because Nintendo would consider the crack as damage and I ran into the same thing with my DS and it wasn't covered by the warranty I had.

Get a hold of the store that you bought it from and see if they can help you with that. They can let you know who is covering the warranty for your DSI. There is still a possibility it might be covered so I would go find out anyway and see if you can get it replaced.

Can't close doc cover properly - seems 'broken' at hinge - can I fix this myself?

The left hinge breaks often enough that Brother changed the part number of the part. I hope that means the new part is stronger; I haven't seen one come back for a second repair. Assuming it's the larger, left hinge that's broken (It always is.), you need an LP2403001 HINGE ASSY L. You can find it from a servicing dealer or online, and it's easy to replace.

Look at the back of the machine and find two large phillips screws in holes. They keep the hinge blocks from coming up all the way out of the machine. Remove both of them and lift the top cover up until it's connected only by its cable. It might take a helper to hold the cover, but you need to unscrew the hinge assy. from the top. The three screws are obvious and easy to reach now that the cover is loose. Put the new hinge on, lower the top back down so the hinges drop into their holes, and put those screws back into the holes in back. You're done.

Screen is blank unless a flashlight is shown on the screen. Prior to this happening laptop was dropped and the left hinge broke off. Could something else have broken off?

sounds like the backlight system of your screen is broken. You may have to take it to a laptop repair shop, preferably an authorized service center to have it fixed
