Within the jack, there is a very delicate balance. The same thing happened to the auxiliary jack in my car. Since it is broken, you'll need to either see if you're eligible for an Apple warranty replacement or repair, see if a local electronics place can fix it at a decent price, or spring for a replacement.

I had purchased an Ipod nano and when I try to plug in the ear phones I can still hear it coming from the nano. And if I turn around the plug for the earbuds the sound goes in and out.

Make sure the headphones are fully inserted. If the problem persists try a different set of headphones. If the problem is there with the second set then you have a defective jack and should return the nano.

Ipod (30 G) earbud jack only plays out of one ear

Does this still happen with a different pair of headphones? If not, get another pair. If the same behaviour with any headphones you will need to contact Apple if still in warranty to get it repaired.

My bet is with the headphones not the IPOD.

Good Luck

Headphones not playing in iPod

This is either cause by a damaged headphone socket in the iPod or a loose connection. The only way to solve it will involve opening the iPod case and inspecting the daughter board that the headphone socket is on.

Ipod and headphone problem

The headphone jack on all the apple products have issues (even their laptops). There is no easy fix, other than having the jack replaced, or remounted. A common issue is that it comes loose from the pc board, especially with the movement of the headphone cord. This is a design/functionality flaw.

Hope this helps some.
