Centrios 1611304 Can no longer finilizing DVD !!!

I have made over 30 DVD from old VHS tapes copies, each of them worked like a charm, but now, I have scraped 11 DVD, because the system does not finilized them anymore! I can choose, Disk MEdia, Finilize, and the recorder will say Finilizing and I can hear the drive spinning, but at the end, the mainmenu still show the option to finilize, and but the disk have no more space available. Of course, the DVD cannot be read on other DVD player. Why is that ?

I have also installed the later Firmware from Centrios Web site, but I still have the problem !!! Thank you

I have the same problem....disc utilities is grayed out No matter what brand of disc I use I'm not able to finalize the disc. It wasn't a problem

at first because I was only using the same machine to playback the recorded disc, but now I'm wanting to playback the recorded disc in another room on a different player and can't.

I will go to the company website and look for any updates that may be available.

Before you attempt to finalize, press the stop button 3 times. This will stop the disc from spinning in the tray. Then attempt to finalize from the menu. Sometimes this will not work, depending on your chosen brand of media. Some media just won't finalize (even if they are from the same package of discs that do finalize properly). I don't know why this recorder is so fussy about the media - sorry!

Power off when inserting vhs tape

I had this problem when copying an old family vhs tape. I had to unscrew the top of the magnavox to access the vhs tape. Then, I gently removed the tape and replaced the cover. After winding the tape back, I put it in the player and immediately pushed fast forward for about 3 seconds before hitting play followed by d.dubbing. I was able to make a copy of the tape and did not damage my original.

Is it possible to copy video from a vhs to a dvd?

If the DVD drive is a recorder, yes. If it is a player only, no. If the tape is copy-protected, recording to a DVD recorder is not possible. Assuming the tapes are not copy-protected, and you are using a DVD recorder with the correct format DVDs (DVD-R for example), you shouldn't have any problems transferring old VHS tapes to DVD.

I cannot copy commercially recorded VHS tapes to DVD. Msg comes up saying it is COPY PROTECTED. Heard that if for personal use only I am permitted to copy tapes. Any way around this?

No,this can be done only copyright materials through the VHS box converter run through a computer with a programs call copy decoders programs.Than u can copy VHS copy protected matrials.Than u reburn it back to DVD disc.So this require alot of work, time and money so not worth it to copy commercially VHS tapes to DVD Disc.

DVD recorded discs (from VHS) do not play on other dvd players

I called the manufacturer. They admitted to improper instructions. They provided me a fix to their copying protocol and it worked. Also, they game me instructions on how to fix already copied tapes. It works well and I would have to say I was impressed with their customer/technical service.

Update your burning software. An older version of Nero had this issue. If that doesn't do it, there are some free programs online that will allow you to shift the audio to match the video. You'll have to change the format to AVI first.

I just bought at Best Buy the Samsung DVD Recorder & VCR. You can copy your VHS tapes right to DVD and or hook up an external source into the deck and copy them to DVD.  I find it working well but many of my tapes have tracking issues which is becoming a hurdle for myself.

Copying vhs to dvd

The write-protect tab on the cartridge is set to "PROTECT" or the disc is protected witht the "DVD Management" settings.
Some video tapes on the market(including rental videos) are copy-protected to prevent illegal reproductions. Copy-protected video tapes cannot be properly recorded.
You cannot use the copying function when the FUNCTIONS window, the Scheduled Recording List screen, etc. are displayed.
I hope this information can be of some help to you all. Ms Tanya 2/12/08 3:54AM CST.
