Sounds like The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts. ..

Need help fixing Philips LCD TV screen that is dark on one side and flickering.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Philips tv jarred in drop

Tv's don't take rough treatment well, picture tubes and other displays break, circuit boards are easily cracked usually around heavy parts, that sounds like your type problem broken board,if the damage is not severe it may be possable a tech.can repair the broken copper traces but this is becoming more difficult with newer more densely packed circuit boards with thinner and thinner traces many are not repairable and even if a new circuit board is available from the mfgr.it will cost more then a new tv.Good luck

Picture pulsing, tv turns off and on

Sounds like a power supply problem, If you are competent with electronics, you may find some blown capacitors or resistors on the power supply board. Equally you can probably buy a new power supply board.

WARNING: the power supply board contains lethal voltages even when switched off and unplugged. If you are unsure what you are doing take it to a repair shop.

Philips 42pf9630/37a, Blink red LED 7 times, No Picture No Sound

7 blinks indicates a bad buffer board, usually I replaced the Y board and the buffer/s about $500-600 in parts. but before you buy anything open the set and look at the power supply if you see two capacitors that look swollen , bulging on top they need to be changed and may solve the issue. the power supply is middle top . If you are not wanting to repair it yourself then know that you do have some circuit board repairs needed.
thanks

Red light on my Philips tv goes 7 times

It's basically a common problem with all brands of flat panel TVs. Heat is the biggest enemy for circuit boards. And the flat panel TV generates a lot of heat.
The most common part to fail is the power supply board (Backlight Inverter Board) for the screen or the Main Power Supply Board for the TV itself. The flashing 7 times is a code for a technician look at a certain circuit path for the malfunction.
If you have some electronic experience and you want to repair it yourself, you can sometimes find a Service Manual over the internet for less than $20. It will have red light flashing codes, diagrams, schematics, and part number list. Cheaper than buying a new TV. :)

I have a philips 42PF9631D/37 and it will power on and the light stay green the screen seems to light up but there is no pic or sound. Please help i love this TV

If you have eliminated other potential sources of trouble such as a missing input signal from cable or satellite box, you have a partial failure of the main power supply. If you have a later 2nd set, I would try that first to make sure there is a signal for the set to see.
The power supply assemblies are normally on separate boards from the main one and in a plasma set you may have two power supply boards; one that services all the lowre voltage needs and a high voltage supply for the plasma tube itself. If the latter one fails, you would probably still have audio but since both sound and picture are missing, the problem is likely in the main supply. Power supply boards can be fairly easy to find; look for boards that have larger components on them; cylindrical cases (capacitors) black blocks (chokes and transformers) and beefy-looking semiconductors. I would check with the mfr. to see if they have an exchange program or only sell replacement assemblies. Power supplies are fairly easy to repair with some techincal training so if you are forced to buy a replacement, don't discard the old one as there are smaller independent companies who will repair them for a few dollars less than replacement cost.
If you plan on opening the set to peer inside, please pull the AC plug overnight as there are dangerous voltages present for some hours after being without power.
