Turn the unit over and remove the four screws that retain the bottom plate over the agitator. Remove the bottom plate and see if the belt of off or broken. The belt part number is printed on the data label for the cleaner.

How do we get to the belt? The brush will not rotate we want to check the belt but can't figure out how to get to the belt?

Most uprights have several screws holding the panel on the underside of the vacuum. You need to turn the vacuum upside down and remove the screws and the panel. This will give you access to the brush and the belt..
Don't forget to make sure the vacuum is unplugged prior to doing this!! Hope this was of some help.

CHANGING BELT U5057-930 WHERE DO I CONNECT IT?

The belt is accessed from the underside by the brush roller. First unplug the unit from the wall. There are 2 tabs on a plate where the brush roller is. Press those tabs to take off the plate. Then you can remove the brush roll and put the new belt on. Should be belt 38528040.

The brushes do not disengage when in upright position

Set the brush control, as needed. The brush control turns the brushbar on the underside of the vacuum on and off. The button is located beside the power button, on the top-front of the vacuum cleaner. Turn on the brush control for cleaning carpet. Turn off the brush control for bare floors or delicatelb_icon1.png rugs..

Can't release brush head on dyson dc24

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. The red button you're referring to is the brushbar motor reset button; the catch to release the brushbar is on the underside of the cleaner head.

To clean any threads or hair from the brushbar, please follow the steps shown in the video below.

I hope this helps - if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

These units have two screws that hold the "hood" in place. With the belt/brush roll cover off look on the underside for the heads of these screws. Once these are removed the top should come off.

Spin brushes on Steam Vac

The cover is only secured by 3 screws. One on the top, and two other on the underside. The two on the underside are located on the black plastic and are deeply recessed. After removing these 3 screws, on the top there are 2 snap in post. Simply squeeze these posts inward, towards the center and the cover should lift off.
