Question about Maytag MER5765RAS Stainless Steel Electric Kitchen Range
I was using the stove the other day and everything was fine, but the next day the largest element (which is also a dual element in that it has a size selector for larger pots) stopped working. The second element (the one that makes the total heating area larger) works, but the main portion does not. The specific model # is MER 5165RAS. I'm not having any other problems with it. I have reset the breaker and unplugged it over night and plugged it back in, but it still does not work.
It's more than likely an open element or a burner thermo. There are 2 ways to check. One is find a wiring diagram and trace the burner circuit to see if the element circuit is open. The other way (and you have to be careful) is to remove the top, being very careful not to crack it lift it off and check the element leads for an open element or element thermo. There will be several screws around the bottom out base of the top. Check it and you will find out what is wrong.

I think some wires may have burnt due to high voltage or overloading
