Advent ADV35 DVD player won't display DVD splash

I have an overhead DVD system and whenever i push the source button to change from DVD, component, TV, etc, in the upper right corner of the screen in green text it says ''DVD'' or ''TV'' etc and then after a split second (when the text would normally dissapear and only the splash screen would display) the text dims to just barely visible on the black background and stays that way.

When it was working, it would show the screen and then the text on top of it. what's wrong? I thought it might be a pinched ribbon cable but I just spent the whole night taking every screw out of the d*** thing. put it back in and same thing happened. this happened randomly too, it was working fine and then bam. nothing. is there some kind of reset switch or something i can push? replacement parts? anything will help thanks!

Overhead DVD player in 2008 Toyota Sienna does not show the picture. Sound works.

Hello, I hope this helps. If no change then you probably have a hardware/ wiring issue and the dvd player may need to come out. Please advise
1. Confirm the DVD RSE system is inoperative. (blank screen) 2. For vehicles with Toyota navigation system: Perform the following procedure to turn OFF the RSE Lock function. A. Press the INFO switch on the navigation unit. B. Press the "Screen Setting" touch button on the navigation display. C. Under the "Rear Lock" option, press the "OFF" touch button and then press "OK" in the upper right part of the display. D. Press the DVD switch on the RSE system (if a DVD is NOT already in the player, insert one) and confirm screen is ON and the system will play DVDs. 3. For vehicles without Toyota navigation system: Perform the following procedure to turn OFF the RSE Lock function. A. Push the Audio Control knob multiple times to cycle through the various options (Bass, Mid, Treble, etc.) until "REAR LOCK" is shown on the screen. B. Turn the Audio Control knob so the display says "OFF" next to "REAR LOCK". C. Press the DVD switch on the RSE (if a DVD is NOT already in the player, insert one) and confirm screen is ON and the system will play DVDs. 4. If the above procedure resolves the concern, explain the system operation to the customer. This procedure is described in the Audio/Video" section of the vehicle Owner's Manual. 5. If the above procedure does NOT resolve the concern, perform RSE diagnosis using the Technical Information System (TIS), 2006 model year applicable vehicle Repair Manual.

How to switch from tv to dvd

Your DVD will be (or should be) connected to your TV using either HDMI cable, Component Cables + Audio, Composite Video + Audio or other A/V connection. Your TV remote will have an input selector that switched the source signal within your TV. This can also be called source selector. In any case, you need to push this button on the remote to rotate through sources (if only one button) or push the button labeled DVD, for instance to select the DVD inputs. Please note that only one type of connection should be used such as HDMI or Component, but not both.

I'm confused how to connect my DVD player with the TV. which cables connect where. I dont have a user manual.

Mukhhe,

good day,to connect your DVD to TV screen follow this steps.

1) prepare your RCA cable ( 3 colored cable yellow/red/white)
note: always remember this

yellow = video
red and white = Audio (left and right)

2) at the back or front display of your TV screen you'll see RCA socket marked as "AV1 input" "AV2 input" etc... if your screen is only mono sound you can only see two sockets Yellow=video white= audio

3) at the back of your DVD player connect the RCA cable following the color code yellow to yellow white to white and red to red. after you connect the cable to your dvd player now connect the other end of thr RCA to your TV screen input.

make sure you'll connect it to "A/V input" not "A/V out" then after connecting all the cables, from the remote commander of your TV screen press a button indicating "A/V" some mark as "TV/AV" press this button until your screen display the back ground display of your DVD player.

cheers,
mark
