Question about HP Compaq d530 PC Desktop

2 Answers

I have an HP Desktop D530, which is normal size not the Ultraslim and am wanting to connect to the Internet but in Device Manager I have the yellow question mark on Ethernet. I know I will have to download the driver. Could someone please provide me the correct link for the right driver to burn and also the correct steps to follow after I burn the link. Thanks so much!

If you are using windows xp go to
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=316715&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=316713&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093#11395
There you have two network card drivers to choose. If you don't know wich one is on your computer, get both, and install one and see if say something about " this driver is not compatible with your device" or some like this, then try the other one.

Hi,

This Question mark can still arise if you have updated drivers. If you have updated drivers then, there may be a conflict on the PCI bus so try the following. In Device Manager right click on the device and click Uninstall and then shutdown the PC. Next, remove the adapter from the PCI slot and then boot up the PC and then shut it down again and plug the adapter into a different slot and boot the PC. When the Found New Hardware appears cancel out of it and then run the driver install file that you just downloaded and reboot and then check to see if the issue is now resolved.

Now, If you do not have updated drivers, you may download from :-

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=316715&taskId=135&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=316713&lang=en&cc=us

Select your O.S and select the driver you wanted to install.

Let me know, if need further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

My compaq d530 cmt....i cannot get on the internet and cant find the right driver for and dont know which driver to install......help

You didn't state what Operating System you're using. I'm going to assume WinXP Home.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=316722&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=316720&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1098#11395

Go down to the heading Driver-Network.

Now Minimize the window. (At the top right of the screen. Starting from left to right; Minimize window icon, Maximize window icon, Close window icon. {Red square, white X)

On your desktop screen right-click on My Computer.
Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list.

Left-click on the Hardware tab.
Left-click on Device Manager.

When Device Manager fully loads, left-click on the + sign next to Network adapters.

Now match up the name of the device, with the correct network driver file listed in the HP Support link.

Is it a Broadcom device listed?
Is it the newer version? Broadcom NeXtreme? (Doubt it)

If it isn't Broadcom NetXtreme the two first files listed do not apply.

Go on down. Is it an Intel device?
Just indicates Intel in the name of the device?
Intel Gigabit Network Connection Drivers for Microsoft Windows XP.

Or does it have Intel PRO/1000 in the name of the device?
Intel PRO/1000 GT Drivers for all operating systems.

Not Intel?
Just lists as a Broadcom device?

Skip the next 6 files.
They deal with wireless networking, and Bluetooth.

You want - Broadcom Driver for Windows XP

After you left-click directly on the file name you want, it takes you to another page.
Go to the right of the heading - File name: and sp26992.exe (31MB), and left-click on Download.

A small window comes up.
Opening sp26992.exe
Left-click on - Save File

In the next window that comes up write down what is in the heading.
In the heading tells you where the file will download to.
It may have Desktop, or My Documents, or Downloads in the heading.

Desktop: The file will be on your desktop screen.
My Documents: Left-click on Start, then My Documents.
Downloads: Left-click on Start, then My Documents, then double-click on Downloads.

When you see the file Double-click on it.
Follow the Installation Wizard instructions.
(Essentially just click on Next, Next, and Finish. Windows will put the file in the proper place)

Now restart your computer.

Hi,

It does not matter whether you use drivers from Hp website or from a sister concern website. I have seen many cases, where Hp don't have any drivers but still certain drivers available online help the customers.
