Changing the oven thermostat on a Belling Farmhouse 910 Cooker

The oven thermostat has packed up on my Belling 910 cooker and I have just bought a replacement. They both have the part number 46THC8/J5 but are totally different in appearance.Wiring on the old one appears to be:-Power in to terminals F and 2 (pink wire). Warning (oven on) light is on terminal H (blue wire). Oven light and fan on terminal 6 (white wire) and a red wire which I presume is the live out to control the supply to the oven is on terminal G. The new control has 1 pair of terminals labelled B and another pair labelled C and a single terminal labelled A. I would appreciate information on which wire goes where on the new part. Thanks

SOURCE: Electrical supply

HI Zuso,

Use your original wire and hook up Left to right Line Neutral, and Ground. L N G. Black wire is Line. Green wire is Ground. not sure what UK uses for Neutral. I just know that you need a big wire. And the voltage is supposed to be 220-240Volts.

SOURCE: cooker problem

If it has a timer, make sure it is set to manual or it will not heat, another possibility is a faulty thermostat, you need to find out if you are getting power to the element, if you are then element should work unless you have got a faulty one.
Plz rate this solution.

I have a belling farmhouse range cooker but the gas mark numbers have faded so when the oven is switched on we don't know what temp it is on. Is there any way of fixing this?

Set the marker to the level as it is and measure the temperature with a thermometer. Now use a good marker and etch it on the metal body repeat it higher and lower with a gap of say 25 degrees. Have a marking on the knob set in place and now you have made a new calibration to the oven.
Use paint.sticker or anymedium to mark it properly .
Hope my advice helps.

Belling oven stopped working

It is most likely the element needs replacing although it could be the oven thermostat.

I would try a new element first, it is not a complicated job to change the element but you need to switch the power off at the wall before you start work.

If you are unsure or in doubt about carrying out the work seek professional help.

How do i take out the old cooker element on my belling xou252 cooker

If it is a fan assisted oven, then the element should be behind a removeable cover at the rear of the oven,
Be careful not to lose the wires behind the oven compartment.
Hope this helps.

I found the following information useful, although it wasn't a belling cooker the controls appeared to be the same. Go down to the electronic timer section. http://www.prestigeappliances.com.au/owner's-manual.shtml
