Question about Audio Players & Recorders
My VERY LOW hrs. tape deck won't play, rewind, FF at any time. It doesn't look broken, or sound like ANYTHING is wrong, when one turns it on.
It worked PERFECTLY when I got it from a family friend for about 2 months. It had been sitting in a closet for over 10 yrs. This unit is VERY showroom condition, It powers ON/OFF just fine..........I'm at a complete loss as to what it could be, besides the 'Bands' that make the little nipple-looking spindles--pull the audio-tape over the surface of the head. But I can't see them, and am not qualified to begin disassembling my Nakamichi in anyway.......
Belts are prone to harden over time, like 10 years. The belt probably broke.
If you don't feel comfortable removing the housing yourself, take it to a repair shop.
