If it's new, you may need to format it. on desktop, click on 'my computer' and see if it's listed on the removable device list, right click on it and choose 'format'. then run it. once it's formatted, it should work! check your set-up settings (should tell you which F key to push to enter set-up when you boot-up the computer). there should be 'navigation' choices at the bottom of the screen. if your OS isn't set to 'plug and play', then change it to 'plug and play'- that allows peripherals to be detected, and installed by the OS. so check it out!
good luck!
Sometimes when a flash memory stick fails because it was not removed from the USB port properly. Any device that is connected to the computer's USB port prior to withdrawing from the USB port, you must click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Task Bar and select the device you wish to remove and only do so when the it instructs you.
When the flash memory device appears to malfunction it maybe possible to restore it by reformating it. Insert the flash drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that its Healthy.
