Question about Bose 901 VI Main / Stereo Speaker
Bear in mind that 901's require exclusive use of any amplifier they use. You shouldn't expect to use conventional speakers alongside them on the Speaker B terminals. The reason is that the 901's require the uyse of their dedicated Active Equalizer to shape the frequency spectrun to match their drivers' response curves, resulting in a flat sound output. Applying that kind of equalization to any conventional speakers will sound to sharp at the extremes and may even potentially damage them.
You can use them in either of two ways.
Attach the Active Equalizer in your Tape 2 loop, following the clear guide printed on it. Activate Tape 2 to place the EQ in line with the program. Bypassing Tape 2 would show you what 901's sound like without their custom EQ curve. NEVER set the Copy function to 2>1 as this would introduce 901's EQ to whatever is on Tape 1.
TO preserve the use of your Tape attachments (through which you might also run any other kind of sound processor), remove the jumpers between the Pre Out and Normal In and attach the Active EQ there.
Should you anticipate using this rig in a multichannel setup from an AV receiver, just draw the AV receiver's Front L&R out from its Pre Out connectors, or from one of its Tape Out connectors, and into this amp's CD or Video Sound inputs. You would still have the flexibility to use the NAD for your Stereo-only rig, and your AV receiver's stereo sources would be available to it, too.
This is essentially how I run my 901's as the main speakers in my 7.1 home theatre.
