SOURCE: Arcam A65 amplifier keep on go to standymode why?

Depending on the volume level and how many speakers you are driving factor into how the amp will react. Check the speaker wires for shorts, if okay! then we must look at the audio output stage, if the semiconductors are getting to hot, the satety circuits will cause a shutdown, if you run a pair of speakers the amp will run cooler, if you recently added more speakers that would explain the shutdown, if not! there is a problem in the audio output transistors and ic's that will need to be dealt with.

I've been given a Technics sl-bd22d turntable, an Arcam amplifier and a Cambridge 551P pre amplifier. How do I connect them all together?

Depends what type of sockets these have. If the Pre-Amp has a RCA phono sockets you just need some RCA leads. I don't know if the Arcam Amp works with any pre-amp. But if it does, it's likely to have the same type sockets as the others. So you just buy another two RCA leads and connect it up.

Boston Acoustics CS26 Speakers sound cuts out for over a second at higher volumes tested using two different amplifiers same problem. Does not seem to be related to amp distortion:clipping protectio

It sounds like the speaker cones(if that is what they have) get hung up against the back of the case. No vibration=no sound. Check to see that there is no hum adding to the pressure on the speakers. Check to see that the speakers are hooked to the correct impedence output of the amplifier. Also, wire length affects impedence and shortening the wires might help.

Hi -

Sony CD player Red / White RCA - > CD input RCAs on the Arcam.

From the Arcam Preamp Output RCA's, go to the Bose "Input". From the Bose "Output", you need RCA splitters to make them into four outputs to run your amplifier connections.clmrt5000_2.jpgclmrt5000_3.jpg

Working fine for the last 20 years with my arcam delta 290 then whilst on my ps3 the av processor started to make a buzzing tone through all speakers. tried all the different modes, unplugged, checked...

In nearly all cases buzzing on audio equipment is caused by faulty leads or having leads in close proximity to EMF sources. Remove all the input and output leads, does the it still buzz. Connect the speaker leads, does it still buzz? Then connect the input leads one at a time. This should pinpoint where the problem is. If you find a faulty lead, swap it out for another, new quality lead that is shielded. Others have the same problem :>(

No sound from my record turntable into my computer.

If you're certain there is no sound going out of the TT...

Setting the Pre-amp Switch
For increased flexibility of use, this turntable has an internal
stereo phono pre-amplifier. The Pre-amp Selector Switch
is located under the turntable platter, in the rear-center
(Fig. 1). If the system amplifier you are using has a PHONO
input, set the Pre-amp Selector Switch to the “OFF”
position. If your amplifier does not have a PHONO input,
set the Pre-amp Selector Switch to the “ON” position and
connect the turntable’s output cables to the AUX or other
high-level input on the amplifier (described later).

Turntable operates, but no sound at all
1. The stylus guard is still in place.
2. The tone arm Lift button is pressed in.
3. Amplifier controls set incorrectly: wrong input selected,
tape monitor on, speakers switched off, etc.
4. Check the stylus on phono cartridge for correct placement.
Refer to the instructions for replacing the stylus
on page 5.
Turntable operates, but no sound, or sound not loud
enough
1. If the turntable is connected to an AUX (high-level)
input: The Pre-amp Selector Switch may be set to the
“OFF” position (phono-input level).
2. The input gain of the amplified speaker or similar
device may be too low.
3. The stylus assembly may not be fully seated in the
cartridge body.

You could also isolate the problem to either the TT or the PC by trying the TT on some other sound device like a receiver. Make sure the PreAmp Selector switch is ON and plug the TT into any AUX, CD or TAPE input.
