Hi,

You don't mention what make or model..

There are a couple of brands that tried the bubble idea to allow you to level the compass while reading but not to much success. So my guess it's a fault with yours.. Hopefully it's either in warranty or not an expensive one to replace 'cos generally they're more expensive to repair than replace..

Either way, the bubble is bad because it will affect the bearing..

Air bubble in Steel boat compass

Most compasses have a port that allows you to refill the chamber with oil. The oil dampens the movement of the card inside so the right weight oil is needed. Contact the maker of the compass to get the weight needed and find out where it leaked out, probably that same port. The seals go bad after time, sun and elements.

Air bubbles in fuel tank

Can you be a bit more specific, perhaps? You might just be hearing it slosh around, this is normal.

When is a compass in need of repair?

    • 1.
When there are cracks in the dome.
      2. When fluid levels are low,
creating a bubble or fluid is all together empty.
      3. The dial or card is
      discolored or yellow.
      4. When the dial begins to stick
      * follow these steps to test dial.........
While dockside take note of the compass heading. Hold any magnetic object
to the compass so that the original heading is deflected about 10degrees.
Remove that object, and see if the dial returns to it's original
      heading.
Repeat this several times deflecting the compass to both sides.

2011 jeep compass vibrations when stoppped in drive

This worked for me
Hey all. I had the same issue with my wifes 2010 Compass. I figured it was the same thing as most everyone else, bad mount or torque converter. I saw a post about the rubber stops under the hood and adjusting them didnt really help. I checked the top/side mount, lower front mount and lower rear mount and they were all intact. I figured it might just need a tune up so I decuded to change the oil, 4 spark plugs, and the air filter. One of those worked!! Honestly I think it was the air filter. it was very dirty. I suspect that the car was struggling to get enough air and it was causing the car to shake more than normal. Anyways I hope this helps someone. Good luck!!

Why is my reserve radator tank bubbling ? 1996 honda accord 4cyl. not manual

Normally, when air is trapped in the cooling system the radiator cap will vent the air out into the recovery tank, mostly when the engine is off and cooling down. That is completely normal. However, if you see bubbles continuously while the engine is running you may have a blown head gasket or worse, a cracked head.

I have purchased a Brunton hand transit, it has no marks, dings, dents or chipped paint. All glass is intact without any scratches. But, the needle acts like it is stuck, sometimes it moves and other times...

Is there a circular level on the face plate with a bubble in the interior. The needle should move when the bubble is in or near the center of the level. Some of Bruntons have a locking pin. Make sure the pin is in a raised position, the pin should pop up when you open it. Hope this helps, Pete

Go to Home Depot or Lowes. They have very small bubble levels. Also any well stocked hardware store will also sell them.
