Question about Canon IMAGERUNNER 6570 Copier

I'm trying to use legal paper and in the choices where legal should be, the papersize says U2 and it cuts off part of the document. could you please tell me how to reset the paper size for the 4th paper drawer to say legal and not U2?

    I want to thank you for your response, and you are absolutely correct, the model # is 6570. I didn't have my glasses on the day I tried to read the copier and I made an error. Thanks for pointing that out, it makes a difference when asking for help.



    I checked the paper guides for all trays and they are set correctly. I even readjusted them trying to trick the copier into setting the correct paper size but no luck, it still reads U2. We recently moved and I think it got out of whack while in transport to our new office, but I'm still stuck with the problem, I cannot make legal copies. I was wondering if you had any other suggestions I could try? Basically the copier is excellent, I just need to be able to copy on to legal size paper!!!!! I'll try anything you suggest in hopes of a solution. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Deborah

    YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!! The side work around worked, THANKS!!!! I didn't mean anything by the 'thanks for trying' rating, I should have used 'helpful' because it was, it just didn't solve my problem. BUT, you have now given me a work around that at least will save our company the money of a service call and we can make legal copies. We don't make a lot of legal copies, but when we need them we need them, i.e. court filing requirements, foreign filing requirements for A4 paper, etc. Honestly, thank you for not giving up on me and my problem and if you ever come across a solution that I can recalibrate the bottom two drawers, please share it with me.

Hello. To start with, you have indicated that you have a "6970" canon copier. I am unaware of the existence of that model and will therefore assume you meant 6570. I mean no disrespect in this clarification if it is indeed appropriate. With that in mind your problem with the copier may be quite easy to solve. Unless you have had a professional field engineer recently service your machine and totally "reprogram" the device which would cause a need for calibrations that are usually unnecessary then here is the most likely cause. You should have a minimum of four paper trays in which tray 1 and 2 are strictly letter size. Trays 3 and 4 are "universal " trays that allow the customer to configure the trays to any size they wish. Depending on the setting of the side guides of the paper tray that hug the paper from the rear and the front and the end guide that snugs against the left side or "trailing" edge of the paper (these are necessary to make sure the paper is secure and does not "float" around in the paper tray) the copier should "recognize " the size of paper it will be feeding. If any of these 3 paper guides are not positioned properly then the copier can and will incorrectly read the paper size in the tray as soon as you shut the tray the copier will then modify the image to fit (or not fit) the original to that paper size .U2 , in brief, is a "custom " size and is rarely appropriate. In the event the copier has in fact had a significant circuit board or programming change then the copier will not read the position of these paper guides correctly. Lets hope it is the former as the latter will be a service call that requires a trained technician to re-calibrate the copier. To conclude, check to make sure the guides around the paper are securely against the paper.I hope this helps.

    Well Regan thanks 4 the happy new year and back atcha! :-) Now down to business. As I indicated by way on of our initial correspondence I was hoping for the more simple fix for your copiers contrariness which would have been the paper tray guides being slightly out of position. I understand that you have confirmed that they are set properly. Which leads us to the definite fix of a field tech/engineer accessing the service mode of the copier and re-calibrating trays 3 and 4 which requires on site service. I must naturally assume that you are prudently trying to avoid a billable service call from your local Canon service provider which, in the case of the company I work for would charge @ 200 bucks for the 15 minutes (max) to fix your problem. I merely wish to help you avoid anything like that. So I can offer a free workaround.I don't know why your copier suddenly needs re-calibration (the move perhaps?) but here is a way to avoid the cost of a service call. You have an additional paper feed access point that resides on the right side of the copier.It is a flip down tray called the bypass or multifeed tray depending on what documentation your are reading from. Again this is a workaround and not a fix but it WILL work. :-) Insert your legal paper in this tray and the copier will immediately recognize your attempt to use the tray. Make sure the side guides and the length support are in the proper position and the copier will ask you a few questions about what type of paper you have inserted. I believe the max it will hold is @ 50 sheets but you have the opportunity to tell the copier what size, weight and type of medium you are going to use. It is not as convenient as "Auto Paper " select and requires several steps but it will accomplish your needs. Again the real fix requires a certified tech to come out. I am trying to save u some serious bucks. I hope this helps...... and I hope my sincere attempt to help you earns me more than a " Thanks for Trying". Best wishes.

Does not sense lower feeding tray as full


One suggestion is to check if there is paper behind the tray which is stopping the paper lift mechanism from functioning properly. The paper senso rcould be dirty or broken and will need to be serviced. Or, the papersize dial could be set to the wrong paper size.

My IR 6570 feeder only detect A4 paper and not F4/Legal paper and some times misread the paper


check the legal size on the glass and measure it with ur paper.this is common problem as these machines are designed for specific country papers and most times the legal paper of different countries differ .no solution dear .try using the bypass tray

are you sure that drawer did you choice ? I mean, you must select paper drawer.
first drawer is A4 (portrait)
second drawer F4/Folio/U2 (landscape)
third drawer....
see on the display...

Open your drawer, you can see blue colored lever with arrow. Point that arrow to the size you want to use on your drawer.

How do you set it to print in LTR instead of


Inside the paper cassete there is a dial were you can set your papersize.It is a blue manual switch switch it to LTR instead of LTR -R.There is also a document stop that you can remove to set it to the correct paper size.If you print from your document select portrait insted of lanscape.

My Canon 2016 cuts off the top 1/2 inch of the page when printing .

Make sure the papersize dial is set for the correct papersize in the copier tray.This dial is the lever you change the papersizes to tell the machine what tipe of paper you put into the tray,the dial is normally a blue colour.On top of you document feeder there are also two sensors that the machine calculate the sizes of your paper.Make sure it is not stucked.

I have a Canon Image runner 1023. when I print i get the message load paper A4, change reg'd size, common settings. and the error light is flashing

First check the document you are printing from and make sure the paper settings on the specific document are set correctly.Then check the papersize settings on the driver,go to printers and faxes in controll panel,Right click on the ir driver,select printing properties and the printing prefences,change the papersize to the correct papersize.
then check the papersize settings on the machine under the additional usermode.
Clear the job that is stucked in the memory by pressing the monitior button (diamand with a eye sign)select print and clear the job.
Try printing again.

First check the settings in the paper cassette of the machine and make sure it is correct paper setting set for the tipe of paper.Check the paper detection sensors on top of the dadf and test -if you push them down they must return instandly.If the sensors take a while to return to home possition,the copier calculate a diffrend papersize.
It also help if you blow the dadf with compressed air.

Canon ImageRunner 2270 copier - how can I change the paper select


There is a blue papersize sellector in the paper cassette with an arrow on it,just move that sellector untill the 11/17 mark.change the paper stops inside the tray to the correct possition and the machine will display the correct paper size option.
