(Mine is the second one down).

The Canon MP270 does seem to have a few problems. It's not one of Canon's finest products, to say the least. It seems to be getting a reputation for problems, problems...

I gave up and bought a HP Deskjet printer instead. I know that's not a fix, but I found it was the best solution!

Follow this link and select your Operating System. Go through the steps listed. You may need to completely uninstall your printer and reinstall. If you do not have your installation cd you can also get that from this website. Let me know if this helps

SOURCE: HP PSC 2355 is stopping

Just fixed a HP PSC 2355 that had this problem. Turned out it was caused by dried out electrolytic capacitors on the printer circuit board. You can check it yourself by carefully removing the plastic cover around the power / USB connectors and then blowing warm air in to the opening with a hair-dryer for a couple of minutes. If everything's working now, you probably have faulty capacitors. Exchanging them is another matter entirely, don't attempt this unless you have a good working knowledge of electronics!
