Question about SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro SDCZ62048A10 Hard Drive

It won't show up

When I plug my 4GB USB to any of my ports, all it does is flash orange (which its suppose) but it doesn't stay on or show up. I've tried to reinstall the drivers for my USB ports, card readers, updated drivers, everything. I have another USB of the same thing, SanDisk, but its 8GB and it works fine but I never used before. And just 2-3 days ago my 4 was working just fine. I put it in my bag to take it to school then when I got home it stopped working.

I'm at a lost and all my homework is on there.

I meant to also say that I have Windows Vista and my laptop is the acer travelmate 2480 ..

Ok, so now, I've tried it another computer and it does the exact same thing. Flashes orange then turns right back off. I've cleaned it too, and it still won't work.

It started to do this a couple days ago after I copied a file onto it then deleted it when it didn't work on my laptop. Could the file I copied over fried the USB? But if it's fried, then power shouldn't even be getting to it, right?

Use the exact same USB port that you used to install it.
The installation uses a "virtual USB" port.
You also have to use the same user account on the computer. (Use the same USERNAME as when it was installed).

Also, check to see if the computer DOES see it:
Right-click [My Computer]
[Manage]
{Disk Management]
Find your Cruzer in the list or on the graph.
Right-click on it and [Explore]
Copy your homework to your computer desktop.

It should work ok, now.

    Your drive is not fried...

Physical and Logical are the two states of the drive.

Please follow the steps that I posted Oct 2...

    "Right-click [My Computer]"

    [Manage]

    [Disk Management]

Your flash drive will show up on the list / graph.

IMPORTANT: Let us know the results... is the flash drive listed?

Can you browse it or does it have a "Format" option?

There are several (some are free) flash drive recovery utilities at "download.com". Download.com is a "trusted site", operated by CNET.

Check to make sure the USB input area is clean. Something could have gotten in it if it was in your bag, this happens often because there is no cap to protect these things. Also try it on another computer. If it still doesn't work, make sure all your USB ports are working on your computer. Cheers.

there is an overhead for the space on a drive, the system needs a File Allocation Table and other administrative information, so the total 4 GB is usually not 100% available. It would not work properly without this "administrative" space.

Files on a flash drive canbe corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon andthen click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flashdrive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive to working order you need to format the flash drive,BUT you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.

I have a really old computer and I put my flash drive into the where it is supposed to go, but nothing came up. What am I supposed to do?

Some Flash Drives don't come with an "autorun" installed in it, if you have a Windows 7 Operative System, it might be installing the driver for it. If it's already installed, go to your computer menu and check if the drive shows up there (In the "removable drives/devices" area). If it doesn't show up, try plugin it in another USB port, your port might be the on not working.

When i plug my 4g cruzer micro usb memory stick nothing happens the cpmuter dosnt read that it is plugged in

Try a different USB device on each of the USB ports on your computer.
Hopefully, all your USB ports are working correctly.

Try a different USB port on your computer.
Hopefully, the SanDisk will be detected on one of the ports.

Try a USB port on a different computer.
If the SanDisk still is not detected, then spend $10 to buy a new 4GB flash-drive.

Unknown device

Hello,
Plug it through different USB ports, even a USB Hub, or on a different computer. Sometimes rebooting solves the problem. I suspect it is a USB problem, especially on laptops with a small number of USB ports.
I have given mine up as dead several times, but it always comes back up gain.
Hope it helps.
