the power light flashes and the then the orange error light starts blinking. once in a while it will print a page or a full page or just a 1/2 page but nothing that I am doing triggers any of the above. the power green light keeps flashing and the orange error comes on flashing most of the time.

canon bjc-80 powers on then, then error light flahes and beeps 3 times. cartridge is in the middle of printer, as if it wants you to change it, so I did, but no change.

Power light flashes while re-starting. Then it beeps three times and continues to flash. After while the orange light comes on, the green light stops flashing and both green and orange lights are solid.

I've tried putting in a new cartridge, but that makes no difference.

Try cleaning off the contacts on the ink carriage with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. The part that connects to the copper contacts on the printhead. You can't harm them by cleaning this way. And the alcohol evaporates pretty quick. Canon ink is 65% alcohol and this dissolves and cleans off ink residue on any part of the printer. Sometimes these contacts get dirty over time and won't read print heads installed any more. This fixes about half the printers like this I have problems with.

If cleaning doesn't help, and a new print head won't work, then the only fix is to replace the ink tank carriage assembly.

    BJC55 Printer not printing

There are some possibilities due to the above phenomena. Let's discuss about it:
    1) If the POWER light is flashing green, then your printer is now warming up or performing maintenance procedure (replacing cartridge/tank) or cleaning print head, just wait a few seconds till the light stop flash. Also if the last page of a print job not done, this POWER light flashing green.
    2) If the CHARGE/ERROR light is flashing orange with beep 3 times, it mean your cartridge need to be install (especially the 1st time turn on printer) or cartridge being replaced, just install the cartridge and press RESUME to continue.
    3) If both POWER light is flashing green and CHARGE/ERROR light is flashing orange with beep 3 times, then your printer may facing a very serious error and maybe need a replacement.

    Hope these help.
